So with a beefed up alternator, add a battery and a motor to assist the engine in acceleration out of turns and the motor becomes a generator on deceleration to recharge the battery. Rinse and repeat until you have all the trophys |

Do they even make a tire that can cope with that much juice? I highly doubt it. A 1000cc engine with two 200hp motors? That is a fairly heavy assembly even without batteries. Maybe capacitors are being utilized instead of or in addition to batteries? That might explain why the motor output is so much higher than the engine output. I lack the patience or time to read through a patent application, so maybe all of this makes sense in context. Very interesting. |

Just because the motor can take it doesn't mean that the power would be there to push them. Stanley steamers used to be able to store up massive piles of steam pressure and launch like a rocket until the pressure died down. They used to rate a steam engine's power rating by the boiler. "this boiler's good for 20 HP sustained" you know? I'm thinking this hybrid approach could be useful in that you could control the torque output with software with simpler trasmissions. |

Why do I get the feeling that Mr. Buell is shotgunning a bunch of patents so when some one else comes out with a hybrid motorcycle there will be royalty money coming in. Like I thought of it first you pay me money. |

The funny thing, now that I am thinking about it, is that I didn't see anything on there that I would think is patentable. There was nothing new, unique or novel that I could pick out. Of course that isn't a requirement for getting a patent these days. |
