hi guys, i have a 95s2, and it makes a noise at idle, ( it goes away at speed) the noise is hard to describe, it sounds like something is vibrating like a box of rocks...i did a seach on youtube for hd twins and the noise really sounded like posted sounds of bikes with a loose compensator nut. i have the service manual, but ill be having a shop check and tighten the nut. is the service manual correct with the torque on the nut, or was it changed? its not stock, it has a 1250 kit from nhrs. thanks for you help in advance. dan |

it may be the rotor is coming loose. They changed it to a welded on unit rather than bolted on later XB's due to some coming loose. |

There is a nut there, but it is not a compensator nut. It is one piece. It wouldn't get a little bit loose. You may have a magnet unglued from the rotor, or you could have the old defective design primary adjuster shoe, or your primary chain could just be way too loose. Open it up and see. If you want to look under the chain, remember the drive sprocket is right hand thread and the clutch basket is left hand thread. |

I vote primary. I'm still trying to adjust mine between clack-clack and whirr. PO on my V&H can made a small dent that allows me to adjust without removing it. |
