Darth not trying to be fatalistic but I would truck it , because of the Just in case scenario. these roads have have had there way with many folks, including me. Just my thoughts tho. I hope we have no incedents, but they do happen |

This is just sounding so sweeeeeet! In preparation of such a great event I'm cranking on some Flecktones, Tony Rice, Jerry Douglas, Victor Wooten, and Sam Bush. Brian, If I get home this weekend I'll bring you a box. If I don't have time to see/touch/feel it you'll have to get Spooky to load it up for you. Later. Greg |

Buckinfubba, We'll have to take em all to Youngs Mountain Music one night for a real hillbilly festival. They also repaved all of 226 up to Carver's gap outside of Bakersville, and Glen Ayre. God I love it "up er" in the mountains. Where exactly will the rides take place? Joel

well maybe the route you just threw out. by then we will have a better Idea, but we will probably have more than one route as there are so damn many roads, maybe some route for more of a site seeing thing and some that are difficult and some that are just down right crazy. kinda like ski slopes having different ratings |

Difficulty Ratings? Anything/everything north of I40, and west of I77, can give you a reality check with quickness. Greg |

Buckinfubba, My parents have a cabin off of 261 on Roan Mt. My favorite route is south on 261 from Carvers Gap to Cub Creek Road. Cub Creek to 80. 80 southbound all the way to the parkway. Parkway northbound up just past Linville Falls to 194. 194 back to 19E. 19E all the way to Tennessee. In Roan Tennessee (just over the border) catch 143 right back to Carver's gap. It's a good ride that takes up most of the day when you add in lunch and saves the evening for drinkin'. 80 is an amazing road with NO TRAFFIC and some serious first and second gear turns. Everyone I pass waves at me, doesn't seem to piss anyone off with the thunder coming down the road. Check it out on page 32 in your DeLorme map book. I'll have to meet you up there this summer and take you on a ride. Joel |

Glitch, My wife just got off IR and back in country last month. We'll have a "two weeks per summer my ass" party. Edited to say "I assume by IR you mean Involuntary Reserve duty, if not, nevermind." edited by S1joel on February 11, 2004 |

joel oh I know 80 well...I like going north on it from marion all the up past the parkway. I myself rarely ride the parkway because I get to looking at the scenery and try to drive off the edge... plus them dang rangers are doing the unmarked car thing these days on th ol BRP |

I'd probably classify the northern most section of 80, from 19E up to the end at Loafers Glory (my personal favorite name for a town) as down right crazy. If you haven't been that far north, you must. |

I lived in Marion for 16 years. Damn Bubba yer killin' me! If you know Marion, do you know Lake Tahoma? If you do there's a "down right crazy" road up Buck Creek up past the BRP IR=Injured Reserve |
