Yeah, there have been some crazy priced stuff on there - and it's still on there. And some reasonably priced stuff that I thought would be gone for sure. I think we're going to start seeing a downturn soon when people realize that a stock header isn't worth $600!! |

The prices are being inflated by a few entrepreneurial guys parting out Buells. One a** hole in Omaha is leading the pack. Scouring Craigslist all over the midwest picking up tube frame Buells and parting them out at extraordinarily high prices. Other sellers scout out eBay, see his prices, and set their prices similarly. I was at a vintage British bike rally recently and found out that at least one of these individuals did the same thing with old Brit bikes before moving on to Buells. While I dislike the unjustified inflation of prices on spare parts, it only makes our bikes more precious and rare. Find the silver lining. |

Hey, I may well be one of the crazy guys selling S2 parts on eBay. All the S2 stuff I have I've been listing here first, and covering the shipping to domestic addresses, hoping to help fellow S2 owners. Buyers on eBay pay full shipping costs. I won't part out a bike that has even a chance of going back on the road. I've picked up two recently that would be huge money pits to try and make road worthy again. All my parts are open to offers if you think I'm too high. I agree it makes our bikes more precious, and this helps keep them on the road too! Parts aren't going to get easier to find for Buells. I'm not new to Buells, my first S2 was purchased in '94. It's still in the fleet. All my parts are open to offers if you think I'm too high. Unfortunately I am also one of "those guys". Frankly, when I couldn't even get an interested phone call or email on my bikes when trying to sell them "whole", at a loss, it was clear if I didn't want to take a loss, they had to be sold for parts. This economy is forcing a lot of us to change lifestyles and giving away a bike(literally losing a couple thousand dollars) when its worth more as parts is bad fiscal responsibility for the family.(besides being stupid) |
