Well guys, here in Iowa today it's just barely warm enough to go for a SHORT ride. There's still a lot of snow on the gound but the roads were relatively dry so I had to go for a spin!! Figuring that all the holiday shoppers would be out in full force I decided to disquise myself as one of Santa's elves, no one would pull out in front of one of Santa's guy, right? Just as I was warming up the bike BoomerM2 and his wife happened by and snapped this shot! It was a brief 22 mile jaunt around town but I got several thumps ups and smiles so it was a great ride!! HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all the Iowa Farm Mafia crew and all the BadWeb gang!! |

Santa bought me a Minolta Dimage Z1 camera so I could post more pictures to BadWeb of Buell riders. Unfortunately the Circuit City Elves sent me some PC speakers instead. Now I am attempting to communicate to the customer service call center in friggin INDIA that they have a problem. Santa, put Circuit City on your BAD List. |

I got an awesome deal and a brand new coat that I have never even seen another one before. The picture makes it darker then it is. It is actually grey: http://www.birch.net/~stftr/coat1.jpg |

LOL Dennis! Seriously I know it does not sound right at all but you should see our house right now and she isn't even done yet. My mother in law goes absolutely NUTS at christmas. I think I have had better christmas' from her mom then anyone else my whole life! She is very cool to me and has been since day one! I know it goes against the married mans code about mother in laws in all but it is the truth. She is always way out of control good to me on christmas' and birthdays.. I just got lucky in that aspect. My wifes parents adore me! I still may stop for the beer though! I have not found your new house yet though. I look everytime I go down sterling thinking I might see your bike out side but I never do! (I know you even told me atleast twice but I have a horrible memory!) |

Fuscat... Just remember... this is war... and you have been infiltrated. First the enemy gains your trust... then they become your confidant... then you complain to the wife about the burnt toast... and the next morning you wake up with your mother-in-law sitting on your chest with a running chainsaw! Be afraid... be very afraid!!!!! OK... west side of the street... second house north of the apartment complex... stucco with green window shutters... covered porch on south side of house... driveway to the back on both sides of the house... bikes are always parked in the back. Be sure and bring the beer!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! |

Hi, all My first time posting, though I've read the computer screen over Crusty's shoulder many a time. I truly missed meeting you all in person this summer. But, since Sanity Clause brought me a new Sunset Orange Blast for Christmas and Crusty got me a Roadcrafter suit, I'm looking forward to meeting you all at the next get-together. It sure is great to have a second Buell in the garage again! |

My lovely wife got me a Buell Firebolt helmet, a tank bag for the XB9SL, and a maintenance manual. I have to admit, though, that I have spent more time reading Hunter S. Thompson's Kingdom Of Fear than the manual....makes we want to start writing again....[collective "Oh God" follows].

Brad . . .. could be worse . . . . .reading the good Doctor COULD have you wanting to re-immerse yourself in drup abuse, felony-yielding cross international boarder activities, and running for office . . .. I'm thinkin writing sounds pretty good, yes? |

Brad . . .. could be worse . . . . .reading the good Doctor COULD have you wanting to re-immerse yourself in drug abuse, felony-yielding cross international boarder activities, and running for office . . .. I noticed you said re-immerse. I didn't think I had told those stories on here yet! .... we had been sitting on the grass for over an hour as the Turkish border guards harassed the ethnic Greeks loaded down with cartons of duty free Marlboros. It was a steamy afternoon and the bottles of wine we had consumed during the overnight bus ride from Athens was oozing from every pour. Neil Young's "Cortez the Killer" was blasting in my walkman headphones...loudly enough to elicit disapproving stares from the machine gun-toting Turks surrounding us and our luggage. I then noticed a trail of black ants next to my backpack...they were headed somewhere in a hurry. Transporting my self into the Weltanschauung of the ants, I began to follow them...on my hands and knees. Their trail snaked it's way through the scattered luggage and weary travelers stuck at the border, until it abruptly ended at a half- eaten, fully-melted hazelnut wafer so popular in that region. I was fascinated by the industry of the ants and they seemed to be working with the rhythm in my head. In my fascination with following the ants around in a drunken stupor, and because of the music in my head, I was unable to hear the frantic shouts of my traveling companions...they were attempting to alert me to the numerous border guards bearing down upon with me with all speed, with machine guns pointed in my direction. Apparently I had wandered into one of those areas at a tense international border where people are not supposed to go... I guess getting hit in the head with a barrel of a surplus German machine gun is better than being shot with one. It's funny...instead of seeing my life pass before my eyes I saw scenes from movies...the one from "Midnight Express" where Brad Davis gets busted carrying 30 pounds of hash at the Istanbul airport...and the one from "Apocalypse Now" where Frederick Forrest gets chased by the tiger, and jumps back in the boat hysterically screaming "NEVER GET OFF THE F**KIN" BOAT!" Never get off the boat... no S**t...I had gotten off the boat, or in this case the overnight express from Athens to Istanbul. After 30 minutes of frantic Turkish/German/English esperanto, I convinced the angry border guards that I was a harmless, drunk and stupid American...one that just happened to have a large number of "somewhat unusual" stamps, appendices, and attachments to his passport. Numerous entries and exits between Turkey,Greece, Egypt, and the Sudan in the mid 80's makes for interesting stories at home, but raises some suspicion at border crossing when you are wearing a bandanna, a walkman, and crawling on your hands and knees laughing at the the ants.... |
