The rivets are loose and the cover is rattling away. I'm going to put new rivets in but manual says they are specific, special HD rivets. Really, are they? |

Special HD rivets = $$ There is no reason to use them, I used standard rivets on my X1. |

The holes in the timing plate are just right to thread with a 10/32 tap. I used some stainless allen heads to fix my old school tuber Pegasus cover, painted to match the cases of my XB 12SR, Lil' Blackie.

I thought the problem with the standard pop rivets is that they could pop the head into the crank sensor area. I just tap mine for screws if I have it apart. |

You can purchase this: http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/A9017.html Or tap it yourself with a 10-24 tap and some screws from Lowes or Home Depot. |

#10-32 screws unless the rivets were loose long enough to wreck the holes. |
