So I am really enjoying getting to know my bike, AND all the guidance I am finding here on BWB. I have been looking for an oil drain bolt, book doesnt have it. I think I found it, is this it hanging out right above the exhaust can??? Also while i was there I noticed another nut/bolt sticking out of the trans... WHat is this? Uploaded with ImageShack.us |

Nope, that' for adjusting the primary chain. |

The first one is your primary fluid drain, the second one is the primary chain shoe adjuster. On the X1 I think your oil drain will be a hose by the passenger peg. |

The first bolt is your primary drain bolt, not your oil. the second one as Phelan said is you primary adjustment bolt. Not positive where your oil drain is on the S1 But it should drain from your oil tank like all the rest, at the house by passenger peg. (Message edited by ustorque on July 27, 2011) |

Your engine carries both Primary fluid and engine oil. 2 different fill holes, 2 different drain holes. Oil tank is located under your seat, fill is on top, drain should be a rubber hose off bottom of tank. Primary fluid is added thru you clutch inspection cover on side of primary, and drained from bolt on bottom of primary. oh good info. I thought the primary oil was the same as engine oil. I didnt realize there were two different pathways for fluid. How often is primary oil supposed to be changed? |

I do mine every other engine oil change and check/adjust chain tension while I'm at it because the muffler has to come off to drain the primary anyway. |

whats the formula+ or sport trans viscosity. im reading of people using mobile1 70-90, others using motor oil 20-50 in the primary. Say I dont want to drive down to the local HD dealer cuz they are a bunch of tards who dont want to work on a buell since they cant get buell parts... I dont have much faith in them right now. What can I get from auto zone or kragen? |

Stay away from the gear lube, it is believed to take out the stator windings. If you want to get it at Autozone, I would use the Mobil 20-50 V-twin synthetic. Takes a little less than a quart, if you look in the KV there are several posts about primary fluid level. Mike |

No rice , sounds good . You get Jenn a new jacket yet ? nope! thats way down on the list! it works good for what it is. if i did stumble across a CHEAP womans buell jacket then maybe... although now that i got her to finally quit being lazy and get back on her bike, she is riding almost daily. so you never know. |
