they have been ceramic coated / i googled around, seems that #000 ultra fine steel wool or 1500 wet sand paper is the way to go i saw multiple metal polishes mentioned as well |

For ceramic coated headers (like on the X1W) the manual suggests "Harley Sunwash" (part no 94659-98), for what it's worth. It also gives the common sense advice of staying away from abrasive compounds and power buffers. |

I've had good luck cleaning hot exhausts with plain ol' Easy Off oven cleaner. Cold stuff, 50/50 simple green and water works wonders. Spray, let soak, (maybe rub), and rinse. |

i used #0000 super fine steel wool / got the whole works wet and went at it for about 5 minutes
