I been riding hard on the street for awhile but usually only the track will tear up tires like the shredded tires unless I am riding hard in a parking lot
The tires will ball up a bit at the end of a long day but never like anything I've done on the track even though sometimes the speeds are the same who knows anyway here was a pic of my XB's rear tire
You don't have to be going that fast to drag a knee either. I've said it many times before and I'll repeat it, the 1125R is the easiest bike I've owned to put a knee down on. I think the seat height is relatively low and the steering feel is so good that you just need to know a turn well and can be going only 10mph over the speed limit to touch down.
There's a few turns near my house that you can put your knee down on at between 35mph-50mph and of course, on ramps can be fun as long as you don't hit diesel fuel or oil and slide directly into traffic
Here's a video from my 2nd ride on my 1125R last year, still using less than 6,000 RPM to break it in properly:
I get about 3k out of a rear and 5k out of a front. I ride a 65 mile straight line to work and back everyday for 130 miles of BORING! Anyway I think I do pretty good at keeping the chicken strips, stripes or whatever they're called away, or maybe I don't?
Neal, now I'm getting worried about going riding on the same roads you do. If the tires come out looking like that, I need to find a different place to ride.
Hey Pizza, Did you goto the Laguna Seca MotoGp race a couple weekends ago? I saw an R with Nevada plates at a campsite between Turns 10 and 11. I thought of you.

Boogiman1981 - I grew up in Daytona Beach, the roads do indeed suck in your area. I'm glad I got out of there and lived in places with good roads for a while.
Unfortunately, I'm back in Central FL (north of Orlando) and there's only a few good roads near Clermont and by Mt. Dora.
The good news is you're only 1.5 hours from Jennings GP, which is a pretty fun motorcycle-only racetrack with track days every weekend and Mondays.

So much of it is also body geometry. A tall guy with most of his height in the legs is going to drag a lot sooner given the same radius and corner speed as a fireplug of a dude.
hey pizzaboy, you might want to add a pound of air to that rear
because why?
i set it and forget it with my pressures first thing in the morning at each track day as per the local tire vendor's daily updated white board of brand/model of tire specific pressures. theyve never done me wrong; i havent had excessive wear, or lack of traction since i started using the free info from the vendors each day!
those are michelin power race medium compounds. the front at the time was the same.
im fairly certain that the wear on those tires are just characteristics of that specific brand and model. everyone who runs power races has tires that look similar to mine. its a little less aggressive looking with the 600 bikes, but with mine and the literbikes, it just shreds them.
my new pirelli diablo rosso corsa track tires stick better IMO than the power races and wear a lot cleaner. it seems like the compound on my new rubbers holds up to the extra power my bike puts down pretty well.
ive heard arguments for both sides of tire PSI - both hot and cold pressure setting - but honestly im just not fast or good enough to notice a difference. the only difference i can notice in tires generally is how well they fall into corners thanks to different brands' profiles, and when i overheat and make street tires greasy. i used to get my corsa III's and my bridgestone BT-106's to feel greasy and slippery around corners when gassing out pretty well. now that i use more sticky compound tires, i havent noticed it.
plus... im lazy. i REALLY like to 'set it and forget it' . continually checking tire PSI sounds like work to me at the track... and im all about chillin with an icy bottle of water in the camper during my 40 minutes between sessions!!!
just over 4k on my Corsa III, and I finally trust my tire! I hope the trust is from getting to know my bike not my tire. I bought the Rosso front and rear. To many burnouts
