I'm looking for a tankbag for my uly that is big enough to fit a sweatshirt but isnt to big ,i was going to buy a wolfman rainier but they look huge in the pics I've seen , and from what i have read the buell bags aren't well made. I'm just looking to for somewhere to toss a liner / rain gear sweatshirt when i have the hard cases off the bike.any suggestions would be appreciated.if anyone is looking to get rid of one send me a pm. Thanks (Message edited by dcc46 on April 10, 2010) |

I've been looking at this one... http://www.tourmaster.com/xcart/catalog/TriBag-Tan k-Bag-p-145.html You heard right about the Buell bags. I love mine, but it started falling apart prematurely. |

Wolfman. They are great. I have an old one, probably close to ten years old, and still works perfectly. Bought it used, threw it in the washer, came out looking great. They also have the explorer lite. If you do some research, you can find find a "denali" model. It's an older model a couple of years old but still for sell by some. Wolfman is American made by good people. Biggest suggestion I can give is to go to a bike acc. shop and "try" some on the bike. Or get the dimensions of the ones your thinking about and mock up a model. Try ebay used. If really not sure it's a lower cost way to find out if you want to go bigger or smaller. This ones cool: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Expandable-Motorcyc le-Strap-Tank-Bag-MotoPak-GTX-MINI_W0QQcmdZViewIte mQQhashZitem2559e44a90QQitemZ160421923472QQptZMoto rcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories |

Here is the Marsee Pocket Rocket 10L tank bag on my Buell. Here is the inside lower level.(I added the 12v adapter and wire pass through grommet. Here is the upper level (it still had clear protector on the plastic lid). Here is how I sewed the bottom strap. Here is the tank bag unzipped off the holder The top of my Tank has this plastic X on it that the last owner put on (came off a different Buell?), it keeps the tank bag pretty flat. Because if this I needed to add a chunk of foam between the bottom of the tank bag and the tank bag holder to stiffen it up some. |

I always have tank bags on my bikes. They seem to keep the wind off your chest and keep the wind from coming up into your helmet. I like my Buell tank bag but the zipper is too small,it still works good and fits good and you can always have the zipper repaired. The Marsee and Wolfman look like better bags though. |

I've had no problems with my Buell deluxe bag in over four years. The only small issue I have with it is that the top of it tilts forward so when there is a map or directions in the map pocket I have to lean way forward and look straight down to read it. |

I also have the Marsee and love it. Just big enough but not to big. I can put everything I need into it. Jimmy |

RKA Mini. Expands 2x up. Map case is a bit small, but big enough for a few hours of road time (new GPS will make up for a lot).

I got the Wolfman that is yellow pvc or whatever. It is one big storage area no little useless pouches cinched with a string (like a hoodie). Inside the cover there is a velcro on small pouch for stuff you don't want to lose in the big section. I just drilled some holes in the airbox cover and bolted it on in the rear (theft proof) and use the two front airbox bolts through the bags front straps so it unbuckles and flips back on the bolts for fuelling. I would post pics but every time I try to post a picture my computer loses it's connection to the interwebs. Hey Wolf, maybe I'll have to send you those pics through the cell phone. PM me if you want to give it a try. |

Best tankbag I've ever used, and dare I say the most underrated tankbag ever is the Held Turano. I've never seen another and never heard anyone mention it. I bought it on a whim for my old GS. I'm trying to figure out a way to strap it to the Uly. It's music ready. Totally waterproof. Biggest map case I've seen. coin pocket. sunglass pocket. Expandable. Love it. Awesome bag. And, look. A buell sliding out on the main page! http://heldusa.com/turano.html http://heldusa.com/turano.html |

That Held Turano looks pretty sweet! I caved in and grabbed the Buell Deluxe on my way to the keys a few weeks ago and i must admit, i really love it. Its easy on and off, hold a LOT of stuff in it, and you just cant beat the fitment. My only complaint with it is the rain cover isnt worth #@$. Anyone find a universal rain cover that actually works? |

For those with Wolfman bags, which strapings did you use? I am looking at the Large Expedition tank bag (I want a really big one for for trans-lab trip) But I am unsure of which mounting to use. http://www.wolfmanluggage.com/Expedition/lg_expedi tion_tank_bag.html |

I used the KLR650 strap kit. The front buckles connect very cleanly to the two front air box cover screws and the rear straps connect to the side frame rails using a girth hitch. The buckles protrude between the seat and rear of the airbox cover. Sorry, I don't have access to pictures now. I'll try to get some up later. But trust me, it's a very simple, clean, and secure setup |

I have the Wolfman Rainer. Just mounted it yesterday. It fits the bike well. I ordered it with the "older model" KLR mounting straps like Hangetsu mentioned; and it mounted very easily. It can expand through the use of an extra zipper mounted on the top portion of the bag (just like most soft travel luggage does). I just mounted the front by removing the front screws from the airbox, tucking the plastic clips from the tankbag under the airbox cover and replacing the airbox screws. It seems to be holding well. I have a KLR also so this bag will do double duty for me. Here are some pics.

Great info. and pics! Thanks. Hangetsu, if you ever want to change your handle how about BagMan! You gave us great advice on fortifying the Triple Tail Bag, which I'm using and liking by the way, and now on straps for the Wolfman! Cool. I got the Triple Tail bag to avoid a tank bag and the bag is super and handles all of my needs. It would be nice to have a map in front of me, at times, though. If I decide to get a tank bag the Wolfman will be at the top of my list with all the props it gets. Thanks all. |

You guys got me thinking about getting a tank bag. I really like what Towpro did with his. Gotta come up with a waterproof and vibration dampening way to protect my new GPS. Love the BadWeb. |
