Hey everyone just dropping a note to say hi. Yesterday I picked up my first Buell. Its an '06 XB12Ss. I have been riding a Speed Triple for a few years but wanted something different. So far I have got what I wanted. PO did son "odd" things to the bike like hacking the rear and moving the turn signals but I like tinkering so I dont mind. Still have to sort out the performance mods. There's the exhaust and an air box delete kit with stock filter but the ECM appears stock. Dyno sheet that came with the bike shows 90.87hp so I have a feeling it may have been remapped. Anyway Hi and here are links to a few pic's. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2741/4314752094_a2e bccf397_o.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4037/4314750266_174 cfda317_o.jpg |

Great looking bike and welcome to the forum. One thing you may want to consider are some frame pucks. Nick |

Very nice looking bike. Great year, great colors (like mine!) If you want to get rid of the rear signals and brighten up the taillight, xblights here (sponsor) does great LED taillights with integrated signals if you want, or just plain cool, good LED tail/brake lights. Nice job of warning sticker and reflector removal - makes the bike look great. Dark Horse Moto makes some very nice axle sliders, if you feel like protecting forks, swingarm etc from tip-over damage. Enjoy the ride, and welcome. |

Ditch that pipe, get some frame pucks, and ride the piss out of it. |

nice bike, I went from a speed triple to a Buell as well. I would brake those turn signals so quick if they were on my bike....not on purpose, but just cause I buffalo stuff |

Hey Froggy is that some type of Uly hybrid? Looks great is there a running thread with the mods you have done? On another note: Do these bikes not like the cold. I rode it for a while yesterday and it was fine. I pushed it out of the garage this morning so I could organize a bit and it sat outside for about 3 hours. Pushed it back in the garage (60F) and a few hours later it wont start. Backfires and chugs a bit but wont light off? |

Thats funny, about 10,000 bikes left the Buell factory with them The chinspoiler and subframe rails are vinyl wrap from Trackwraps.com 13a, the problem is a double whammy on our bikes. Batteries cannot crank out as many amps when it is super cold like it has been for us in NY, and then having to fight the high compression of the motor makes it even harder to start. Make sure your battery is good and charged, and if possible put it on a battery tender at night just so it has that little extra charge. What you are describing sounds like it might have fouled the plugs. I would change them and try again, and only start the bike if you plan on riding it. It takes a while for the air cooled motors to warm up, and if you don't give them a good 30 minutes or so they probably won't get up to temperature and as result may foul plugs and turn your transmission fluid into a milkshake. |

A night on the tender and a new set of iridiums did the trick. Got it good and warm then changed the oil to 15w50 Mobil 1. I'll do the primary this weekend. Thanks for the tips. |

I'm no expert, I just play one on Badweb. Just because you got half the parts book memorized and a 3rd of the service manual doesn't make you anything other than a loser with no life |
