VERY nice execution and attention to style. Looks like the Drummer, of course; though I expect the Drummer has at least one reverse in its through-pipe.
Haven't listened/watached your clip, but it has to be NASTY loud with such a short, straight through muffler.
If your SOTP meter says it's stronger, imagine how much you'll like it when you cure the lean condition you've created (if you're only using the stock map now).
Welcome back, carbon; haven't seen your posts here for awhile.
I guess I gave Kevin too much credit, in assuming he would have provided enough silencing length to create power without excessive noise; which, as it turns out, is what the 1125 Drummer's reputation is (too loud). Pretty, tho.
Regarding the stuck throttle - check the breather hose coming up to the airbox. Mine was rubbing the throttle linkage and also sticking the throttle. As a temporary fix, I wrapped the rubber hose with some PTFE tape and applied a little white grease to the linkage.
123.5 hp, so no major gains except for sound, directed exhaust flow and some serious weight loss to the tune of 9 pounds. Sorry about the audio, I was too close to the bike. Shoulda been about 10 feet farther back. Audio washes out after about 6000 rpm.
Well, assuming that since it posted nearly identical results as a stock pipe, it wouldn't be a stretch to see a 15 hp gain from tuning? Not sure what their advertised gains are, but I seem to recall some decent numbers from the "old stingin bee" software.
I will say that the hour ride each way to the dealer and back this morning was a brisk one at 35 degrees. Not something I want to repeat very often.
I need to take it off and do some polishing on it once I get a buffing wheel. Still waiting on one of those. It looks good raw, but I want polished. The guys at the dealer were impressed, one owns a 2009 R and wants one made also. I called back when I got home and they said it sounded good through 5th gear at WFO on the throttle.
Any muffler's going to sound loud in a bloody trailer! I've so far resisted recording mine anywhere but outside, which is where we all ride, not in a trailer or a dyno room.
Bloody oath. And some of you want one based on that video clip? Let's see dyno maps, then you can decide.
And weight loss isn't very relevant to us on the street: we can achieve weight loss just by avoiding having a full tank of petrol.
I'll get the dyno maps either tonite or tomorrow. I don't have them superimposed one over the other, just each run separate. I have the stock, stock pipe modified and the custom SS pipe.
When I post them, does that mean you'll order one Red? Nevermind, you've got your own thing going and seem to have had good results.
I'll get some better video later, it's just kinda crappy weather here lately, I think rain is called for over the next week. All of mine have been done with a Nokia N75 phone, not an actual camcorder. Based on the average cell phone video, I'd say these are pretty darn good. I just stayed too close to the dyno that time.
Fresno, I don't really think the average rider would notice a 5-10lb weight loss. Figure that the motorcycle weighs 450lbs, and let's say that the rider is 200lbs, that's 650lbs. A 10lb weight loss is 1.5% difference--not enough to make a noticeable difference in the way the bike handles or accelerates or brakes.
I went from relatively heavy dual mufflers on my SV1000S to a single titanium muffler, which dropped at least 10lbs from the bike, and aside from the much better sound, I couldn't tell that I'd changed anything. And yes, I do my share of quick-paced twisty backroads riding.
Flesh, I only questioned the blanket statement that weight isn't a concern for street riders. Maybe 5-10 pounds is questionable, however I have shaved 20-25 pounds from my R and contend it does handle sharper versus a stock unit...don't we all agree that a full tank of gas noticeably affects handling versus a nearly empty tank?
Some dyno sheets, I need a scanner. Camera will only get so much of the sheet.
11-07-09 run, stock, k&n filter
11-21-09 stock modified, k&n filter
1-19-10 custom made SS pipe, k&n filter
Oddly enough, both attempts I've made has been successful in that no tuning is required to adjust for a lean or rich condition. They've all come in spot on at 14:1 every time, including the "OMG look at the size of that outlet!" custom pipe. It was just an arbitrary design choice, and obviously it works. I think I'll go enjoy this one as soon as the weather breaks here and gets a little better. Even though it was cold today, I had a SEG riding it for 120 miles.
At any rate, for those of you who wish to copy the design, there it is. Proven results, well documented with a lot of pictures to go by and some colorful commentary to keep you entertained.
14:1 a/f ratio... Thats Lean IMO...i mean i dunno if this engine likes it that lean, but from my tuning experience this is LEAN.. way to close for my liking.
For n/a engines i would say 13:1 is better/safer...boosted apps like mid 11's a/f ratio. i think that K&N filter is putting things on the lean side of the house..
If you look over blackflashes dyno runs, his only difference is the lack of a k&n filter. his a/f ratio was in a safer zone of 13's:1
Too bad you didn't try a run on the dyno with the stock air filter, it may have made more power...

Umm, I think he stated he does have a K&N filter in it.
As far as safer, if the stock exhaust runs at the same ratio, does that make it unsafe? Sure, tuning would be better for this pipe, but since it runs identical to stock, it won't suffer any performance issues and stands to gain a lot more.

Absolutely correct Dean, and should adapt the same as stock to AFV changes. Mine has. I also agree that tuning to richen up things should also benefit a somewhat EPA mandated lean running engine and produce some better power, better mid-range and a cooler running engine. I'm strongly considering it. Bob

This is no competition here people.I did have the k&n installed .Never the less both of these bikes have similiar results.I believe my torque was up.My system has 3 baffles. These bikes have pushed good power with the stock pipe flow.Look at the 1190rr the pegusus team runs??I believe both these setups can improve with tunes. They are in the same ball park.My pfu flash seemed to push the hp up but lost some low hp even though its not made for it.I had torque gains over stock with the pfu.Stock tune with the new pipe over completely stock had good torque gains as well. Ill post my 3 best runs in my thread.I dont want to jack adams thread as it is well documented.I think adams can improve his merge setup though. The merge location for adams was kindof used as a cripple to get his angles right by angleing the tubes into the merge to get everything to fit right with what readily materials were available.I believe a merge right before the muffler and using 1.75 ss tube will be a better adequate design.Trial and error?? The only problem I see with the dyno results is the operator wearing the harley shirt and all the gay harley guys walking around.I dont think I cant take my bike to a harley dealer anymore. It makes me want to throw up!!
Blackflash, There have been no verified pics of the 1190rr, the Pegasus Race Teams website has only a picture of the 1125r with the stock exhaust, the 1190rr (from what ive been told) will be using the buell race exhaust...just thought id clear that up, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GUYS!!!

Well, I'd recommend not bringing your bike or pipe over this way after that last statement. I have a feeling you'd get your butt kicked in a rather humiliating fashion by those "gay harley guys" at the dealer. I may not like what HD did to Buell, but I'm not going to bash the guys working in the trenches. They're people just like myself trying to make a living and from what I've seen and experienced, they're damn nice guys all around.
On a side note, I did NOT lose any power anywhere, nor did the torque curve suffer any ill effects or get moved around.
