More stuff I noticed on the 45 mile ride. 1.Still at 100 f&r. 2.Good decell properties. 3.No back cackle on decell. 4.Even A I4 guy said that sounds awesome.He heard my jardine.ugh!! 5.Riding at 65mph I could barely hear the pipe.Its like theres was a sweet spot in sound at cruising speed. 6.At seat of pants it felt great . 7.Didnt kill my ears 8.The bike had no hiccups at cruising speeds stock with k&n "unlike the jardine". 9.I got some sound I will upload but its alright but not totally the best .But it will give you an idea. 10.It also had more grunt sound off idle and turned into a whoo whoo sound.Like a mustang.Very little cackle. 11.Over the jardine my bud and I both agree that its definately quieter than the jardine and the pipes we heard.He suggested me not to even touch it.He agreed that the downpipe looks to be a great design and 2 into 1 styles will only hurt "choke" the flow properties. More notes. I somehow have a feeling that the original downpipe has great properties that can be worked with if your willing to sacrifice your pipe.I in all am completely satisfied with this setup from all the pipes I witnessed in person.fmf full,fmf slipon,jardine,hmf,buell race,Stock ones modified. For now I believe I will clean this setup up and try to dyno it as is.Before I waste hours making a downpipe im trying the stocker for giggles. The girl has a new droid coming in the mail today so I'll try capturing some vid with that too. | ||

Whats a better performer, a HPE or a Buell racing exhaust? No opinions just facts, which performs better??????? | ||

Ottobotz -- What purpose will it be used for? Street riding or full out racing? For race, I'd imagine the Buell pipe would be better by far. | ||

D_adams--I do a lot of street riding, with track days in between. But I get called out on the street by people with rice burners a lot. I'm in search of the most horse power with out sacrificing on ride ability, or reliability. | ||

half those bikes you won't be able to touch after 110mph. The liter bikes really pull when they hit 120. I run with a couple 750,1000,929s and they all got me after 120. Sorry but you'll have to dump alot of money in your bike to keep up with them. Just the honest truth.I run o s b and a k@n . There bikes are bone stock. I rode a r1 and it felt slower but it was so smooth that I didn't realize it. I ran it at the track at 10.10 146 mph 07 r1 bone stock. We did burn the clutch that day.So a r better put on 20 hp to keep up with that. | ||

Otto, no one ever pics fights with me really  ...ive had a 750 try once and well i blew his doors off lol, and my buddies 600 wasnt even a challenge..but thats probably just the rider... and in almost every county except yavapai (i think) you need to do emissions, however the only 1125's in the states except CA do NOT have a cat, so ud be good with no cat and better off for performance too.. Btw- Im goin to UA so im live in tucson 80% of the year, so we should go ride up mt. lemmon sometime, there's also another 1125 rider in tucson on here, his names chris, i believe his screen name is clboaz...we need to get a rotax ride goin up the mountain.. I thought of all the things i wanted in my exhaust system 1.Good ground clearance so it wont get crushed ,dented,hangup, make me wreck 2.Any fairing kit will mount 3.Keep it light 4.Deep sound 5.Good cruising sound> achieved very happy!! 6.All stainless no packing burnouts 7. Keep it cheap. 8. Not change much of the existing downpipe design as i believe there was great thought put into it.I have downpipe supplies but All my friends agree dont touch it it sounds great.They have heard all the bikes at the ama races along with me. 9.Afv stays at 100 f&r .So far it has 62 miles 10.Quick easy fitment Quick notes. Now that I have heard the pipe after my ride yesterday I will get a 25 degree 2.5 in bend to clean the straight area up.I welded a couple notches in the tube to get my angle needed to mate the pipe to the downpipe.I plan to order the tube necessary to clean this beast up and tig weld it up.The downpipe is the internal piping used inside the stock muffler it is stainless .Its a 2.5 inch downpipe.The internals in the 4x8x10 muffler case has over 21 inches of perforation and a 3 baffled stainless packed setup with a 45 degree kicked turnout. I like it too toys.Im getting a camera from my hoonie today so I hope to have better sound.My speaker keeps muffling when I rev it up.Toys I looked into a similiar design .But Im wanting a fairing kit which from eriks emails to me there will be plenty to choose from.What it really comes down to in a good sounding pipe on these 1125s is more perforation/baffling, packing causes lower db levels.A jardine is 12" toys looks more like 32" mine is at 21" of perforation . Toys is a straight through style which require more length to kill db levels.A combination of perforated tubing with a couple baffles will create similiar sound detonation And Create more low end over a straight through styles.Weight is another issue.I wanted to shave 10 lbs off my bike.If im paying money for a pipe it better have wieght savings.I ride agressively in southern ohio and have gone in a farm ditch or two over the years.My stock pipe caught the lip as I rode in the water ditch and rode it out.With a setup like toys I believe I wouldof went over the bars.Just little things like that that made me make my design.Its all what you want.Thats what makes this thread so great.  | ||

I'm starting to get the impression that you'd be better off on a dirt bike since you run through ditches on yours. Maybe a Uly instead of the 1125? Something that's designed to go off-road maybe? | ||

Saddlebags and pink tassles are not a option. I use the edges of my tires. I wear them out evenly and have no chicken strips. It's just something to take in consideration when designing a pipe. All possibilities. The bike say r on it . It means racing . Not retired or really slow. I admit I hit some dust here and there in curves in southern Ohio. The roads are tempting but very treterous. It's kind of a unsafe tease. Deals gap is the winning ticket along with the smokies. I plan to ride on more trackdays this year and step it up. I would like to ride in safer conditions . Falling off a hill is not a option . Or going through a farm fence. Which that's what southern Ohio is. I would rather ride in a safer enviroment and push it to the max with proper gear and great people to learn from. Nope no chicken strips here or saddlebags . I have almost 18k on my bike and of the tires I used I have no chicken strips.Actually when I went to my warranty work he laughed at my tire and said you really work this thing. | ||

LOL Dean, how about a 400cc single, 220lb. 4 stroke for the dirt. Much better and keep our 1125's like they should be. YA! All while keeping them "out of the ditches" LOL But I got your idea Black and I'm with ya' on that and why I also fabricated my muffler system to be totally under the engine and entirely inside my lowers. The lowers are kind of angled into the center of the bike and will never touch on any kind of lean and when they clear so does my exhaust. A strong concern if you ride somewhat aggressively. Although we must be really careful on the street, especially here also, as a mishap could put you over a 1000 ft. drop. I have scraped the pegs occasionally in just the right safe riding areas. Kinda scary for a split second. Erik has it right "form FOLLOWS function" Build it to work well first then make it look nice if possible. Mines hidden so I do not care............much. Bob | ||

Dosmie I had a well named exhaust company make me a prototype muffler.It wasn't cheap but it's full 304 stainless tig welded and the packing was ss as well.It will never rust!! No coating is necessary!! Satin ss is pretty in my eyes.Take some scotchbrite and vwalla.This is a rough version and can be cleaned up with a couple tubes purchased. | ||

I really think that the stock downpipe has function over form bob.It had the holes in the downpipe acting like a cat .I cut them out and joined the two tubes together and migged it .I then cut the straight tube that went across the stock muffler off and made a mid pipe with scraps in the garage.It was aluminized metal.Thats why it doesnt match in the picture but i wanted to keep this cheap for now until I know what kind of impressions it gives me before I go any further with this setup.So far so good.I had a couple engineers help me design the muffler as well. | ||

Here's some custom exhaust the fun way. Build the whole thing yourself.        Personally, I'd rather do this kinda stuff myself, I'll get the results I want and have nobody to blame but me if something goes wrong. It rarely does. | ||

what are those endplates? they'd be good on a battleship! over here we use 18 swg pressed endplates and 20swg skins, good work though (Message edited by albert666 on January 15, 2010) | ||

It's all 304 SS, the end plates look to be about 1/8th of an inch thick. The rest of it is either 16 or 18 gauge tubing. I also have 2 sheets of stainless steel wool. I'll probably add some fiberglass strand packing on the outside also. |
