I am looking for a set of CR clubmans for my xb12scg, I was going to go for some Woodworks clip-ons but I like the way the CR bars look and feel. I'll pay up to 200$ for the bars and cables, as well as shipping both ways, Thanks!
I installed the CR clubmans on my SS and you do not need anything else, I mean you can use the stock cables. Google here for pics (even of mine) to see the details of the installation.
OH! Yes, I do love clubmans, more control but still quite comfortable.
I'll just say I'm not very "fabricative" I sort of gave fabricating up after I lost my ring finger to the radial saw in cabinet making class. So if theres a shit ton of work then I'll just see if I could pay the parts guy at Frontier HD who rides a xb9r to do it in his spare time.
I am sure they would do it, wont be cheap at the hourly rate but I really like the setup.
Maybe bring along some pictures for them, two main things are that the kill switch must be put on rotated forward, so instead of the switch facing the rider its facing a bit more up. I can still flick it on or off and start it with my hand as normal, just a different angle. This allows throttle cables a clear shot.
Then someone said they didnt have to do any drilling for the clutch cable but I had to run it through the headlight assembly box (name?) and out a drilled hole through the left side.
Also, have an open mind the first few times you ride it. After drilling into my bike and spending a hundred dollars I was pretty bummed the first time I road it. After giving it a few more tries and letting my body adjust, I am now in love with it.
It was me, I did not drill the headlight assembly. I connected the clutch cable onto the lever before and installed them together onto the perch. A bit longer cable would make the whole assembly easier and relief some stress from the cable (which is a bit too bended).
I just purchased a set of the CR C;ubmasn to go on my Z1000. Boy what a PITA! But weel worth the handling afterwards!! I had to actually mount my kill switch on the inside curve of the bars. Still fully accessable too
I got ahold of some Lobster bars, I just have to wait till its decent enough out to put them on, when I do I'll post a pic even tho theres hundreds on here of XBs with CR clubmans.
Stupid question: But are the clip ons on a 1125R the same as a Firebolt? I have no idea since I've never seen a "Robster" in person.(I think the R fairing makes it look like a masked lobster thats a robber, hence the mask) But I'll wait and see how the Nephropidae clubmans work before I buy Firebolt clip ons.
Thats what I thought, from pics I've seen the forks look a tad fatter than Firebolts, and the angling seems different as well, how about just swapping out front ends? If you could even attempt such a thing that is. I'd dig that fairing though, that would definitely help in the rain/wind.
But in that thread they said you need adapters to go from stock 7/8" bars to the CR 1" bars? Those weren't mentioned anywhere in this thread... is that simply because that's a given? Or am I missing something?
BTW they look amazing, and if I could find a set for cheap (like in the backroom of a dealership that swapped them off a CR) I'd love to throw them on my lightning!
so are mine in the video. the picture are the slim line and mine are the standard. great quality product but I was un happy with the anodized finish. (I think it was outsourced)
Well I'm glad I know that now, I would've been outside for hours wondering why in the hell they wouldn't fit. I should buy a second set of clubmans to put on my RSV4, I think that'd look pretty neat, it'd probably need a hell of alot of fabricating but it would be neat.
I don't think there is a matte black but thats just a powder coat or rattle can away.
the risers in the pic are 'el cheep'o style, 4 1"spacers and 4 washers with an extra top clamp. I later installed a precision engineering 2.5" riser. they offer black but I wasn't happy with the black on my fat bar riser so I wouldn't recommend it; it turned kinda purple in about a week.
