I noticed today while washing my bike that my race can is turning white. The portion on the can that has the rear strap on it as well as in between the two outlets on the rear of the can. The rest of it is black and always had been. I've never seen this...any ideas? |

Yea sounds like the paint or whatever was put on it is failing. The cans only came from the factory in normal stainless or polished. |

"BBQ" paint goes white as it ages from heat....as do most flat black paints. |

I'm fairly certain that all the race cans were not stainless, they were just ceramic coated a silver color. Mine are both very magnetic, so could possibly be a cheap 400 series stainless, but I highly doubt it. Guessing mild steel and coated. |
