JEEEEZEEEE! Amra12, NO NO NO NO and NO. Pick up a business journal and drop the motorcycle mags. It is business and has nothing to do with any line that Buell came out with. HD had to drop the smallest divisions of the company and solidify the HD brand. Buell did not fit the BRAND. MV Augusta also did not fit the BRAND. They sold MV Augusta because they could separate ties no cross support that would make a purchaser an integral part of HD. Buell on the other hand has 90% of its sold products (air cooled) out on the road supported by HD engine. THE reason HD is in bad shape is a direct effect of its financial services department. Like many banks out there right now it is feeling the effects or the extension of credit to the sup prime market. It is just a sad side note that OUR favorite bike/bikes were dropped. |

Only a rube would blame it all on the "scoops". Points 1 and 3 are the same, so it was the scoops and the belt that doomed Buell. Wow. Who knew they were on such a knife edge. |

They sold MV today? Thad has some valid points the R should have had a full fairing. If nothing else it would have made a bigger styling difference between the R and the CR, Maybe not in 2008 but 2009 would have been nice. |

Amrra12, Impressive looking 1125. That is the bike that if Buell Built they would not have set for 2 years and needed $5,000 rebates to get sold. You are pragmatic so they will cut you off soon but you are 100% correct. your truth = true loyalty and wanting better is not popular. Patting each other on the back and laughing off three week service visits are the norm. You are in touch we reality and the market. If more Buell employees, customers were honest here like you we would not be in this situation. I got in trouble here saying the real value of an 08 is around $4,000, The market has proven me right and you too. But this is not a open forum even though you and i bought and liked our Buells we are not allowed to speak honestly about them. Yes the XB won design awards it was designed all at one time. to make the pods work the bike would have required the size of a gold wing for balance. |

The market has proven me right Yeah Brad. You prophetic claim came true. Congratulations. Now is the time to come out of the woodwork and let us all know what a brilliant guy you are...again under the guise of being the voice of reason in this sea of kool aid drinkers. You ain't foolin' anyone. And you are dead wrong about the 1125r being the downfall of Buell. It had VERY little to do with Buell, if anything, and everything to do with HD corporate panic. These 1125rs being sold at $5,000 and $6,000 ($4,000 was one single dealer BTW) are WAY undervalued. Why have more than 40 badwebbers bought since Friday if they weren't absolutely under market value? If you weren't such an idiot, I would suggest you buy one in order to see the light...but then you would want to hang out here. |

Fresnobuell, WOW man hate much? I'm just curious what I said to piss all you haters off? or is it just in your nature to hate? this site is turning out to be a bad joke and I'm thinking the punch line is ...Buell.. I do believe you can {my friend} have blind faith and that blind faith can lead you to a point where ....well.... we are now! what do you owe on your 1125? I'm sure it's probably more then the $4999 there selling them for now? { ohh but I'm sure you paid "cash" for yours "wink"" wink" your type would say that} how does that make you feel? HD just took the resale value of your bike and ...well flushed it down the toilet sooooo I hope you do love it because there going to bury you with it! |

1. Fresno, you write with the mouth of a 12 year old. 2. as a loyal buell customer they held the first 1125 for me with no deposit knowing I would by it sight unseen. I apologized and passed buying another Firebolt instead. Working in design marketing and graphics I could tell the bike was rushed. That was a harsh judgment on my part but it unfortunately turned out to be true. I ride an average 40,000 street miles a year, I HATE SERVICE department. Killer engine, this should have turned the market upside down. Again I hope the magic of Buell handing is retained, and reintroduced FAST into a new line of bikes unfortunately with the Harley name but be honest without their $$$$ we never would have got the XB, the worlds best handling bike. Erik is a great engineer. So Close, we almost touched the sky. |

That's how it works. If you feel like you are getting hate from myself or others, well I suggest you look at yourself. Resale vale? Is that what this is all about? You guys need to stop worrying about resale value. It is what it is. Yeah, I did pay cash since YOU brought it up. I don't finance my toys. If I can't afford to buy them outright, I shouldn't have the toy. If "my type" is a financially responsible type, then guilty as charged. Sounds like some here is upside down with his purchase and wants to blame someone else besides himself for the predicament. Oh how so American. I also bought another 1125r today. Do you want to make another presumptuous asinine statement regarding cash or credit on today's purchase? If more people bought only what they can really afford, our country wouldn't be in the mess it's in at this very moment. The "bad joke" here is your decision to buy a bike that you really don't like. And PS here is my race bike tell me it don't look 100% better with full body work! Well, I can actually say no. The bike doesn't look 100% better with a full fairing. I can say this because I prefer naked bikes over faired bikes. Personal preference. I do have to wonder why you are talking so much crap about a bike and the owners of a bike on a board for a bike you originally said don't own, then turned around and said you do? You already stated you would have never bought one, but apparently have no problem racing something you won't buy. Looks to me like you didn't care what you got to ride as long as you got to race. Sounds like a plan if that makes you happy. But could you stop stereotyping everyone here? Yes, people are giving you a lot of grief because most people here disagree with you. Funny thing about this being a Buell Forum, most people here actually like them and that's more or less how internet forums work; people with similar interests get together and talk about it. Imagine that. If you do want to keep stereotyping around here, riddle me this, why do people like you always just want to start crap? I've always wondered about that. Bad childhood? Feelings of inadequacy? Need to be the center of attention? Or just pissed because now you have to find a new sponsor and maybe nobody else wants you or wants to give you the great opportunity that Buell and Harley-Davidson through one of their dealerships on a Buell? Just asking. If you can skip the stereotyping, so will I and there's no need to answer. |

I personally don't think that the 1125 was the downfall of Buell, HD was. Buell got put on the national and world stage when it got into AMA Daytona Sportbike and Superbike racing. And won the Daytona Sportbike championship. I spoke with a friend of mine at a HD dealership after the '09 AMA season started. He told me that all the Buells in his dealership were "flying out the door". Win on Sunday, sell on Monday. The problem with Buell has always been HD. I don't know why HD bought Buell back in the day. They messed things up from the start by not really getting into the brand. IMHO this axe from HD is a surprise but it's also probably the best thing that could happen to Buell bikes. It's my guess that Erik won't be able to keep the Buell name brand since HD owns it but I'm hoping he can get back into designing and building bikes again. It's not the end, it's a new beginning for Buellers without being under the thumb of HD. I say it's about time. Erik will rebound. It's exciting waiting to see what will happen next. |

Actually the proper title for this thread is more like... Time Ran Out for Harley-Davidson Financial Services Incorporated The greed heads there got stuck with a BUNCH of bad loans. The knee-jerk panic reaction by HDI, the corporate holder of all H-D and Buell companies, was to ditch MV Augusta and Buell. The logic proposed by the thread author is ludicrously false, unless you also believe that MV Augusta fits that same characterization. Blake |

Fresnobuell, Boy you must be a treat in hang out with with comments like that! Try and show a little respect, bud. Yes, my friends are not motorcycle true enthuseists but they do know what a Yamaha, Suzuki, and Honda look like from a far. Simple fact is not many people in Michigan are familiar with the Buell brand. |

I would have never bought it ( it was a sponsored bike) but that would have been my loose because how great of abike it truly is! Such a contradictory statement. “I would have never bought it…but that would have been my loss…” Because it didn’t fit the “norm?” As for your “Art of War” quote, I believe you misunderstood the whole concept of the entire teachings of Sun Tzu. "Regard your soldiers as your children, and they will follow you into the deepest valleys. Look on them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even unto death!" - Sun Tzu, the Art of War My point is that sometimes you need to make what the people want, so you can show them what they need! Did you stop to think that maybe they did make what people wanted? How many times have you heard before the introduction of the 1125R someone say, “If Buell only had a modern water cooled engine, I’d buy one.” ? They built it. We bought it. Those who took a pass, such as Brad, blame their reason for the pass on the styling of the bike. If it was merely a case of a full fairing, there’s nothing stopping anyone from ordering & installing their own fairing to change the looks of the bike more to the “norm” so please forgive me if I don’t buy that excuse at face value. You openly admit the bike is better & more capable than you believed in your preconceived notions. You openly admit you dislike the stock look. Blaming the actions of HDI on shutting down Buell on the looks of 1 model is just dumb & contrary to facts. I have no problems with you stating opinions. I can even understand where you’re coming up with them to some extent. But if you refuse to re-evaluate your opinions objectively when faced with facts, don’t be surprised when folks get a little negative in responding to your opinions. |

Guys, all this banter is pointless. Here's the dead facts: 1) Real riders buy a bike for how it performs, not how it looks. If that wasn't the case, then the BMW GS line wouldn't be their best selling bike. Ducati would have never sold a Multistrada. Suzuki would have never sold a V-Strom. 2) Performance is relative. One person might think the 1125 is slow while someone like me believes it's scary fast. If you want a 1000cc race replica bike for the street, the 1125 is NOT your bike. But if you ride the two back to back, on the street, in the twisties, I think you'll find the 1125 the better bike. 3) Getting butts in the seats is the key. Everyone who ever rode my Buells LOVED them. However, most people in the market for a sport bike aren't going to go to a Harley dealer to look for one. Had Buell been sold along side their competition, then would have excelled. The tie to Harley hurt Buell. I can't tell you how many times I've been asked, "Is that one of them Harley sportbikes?". 4) "Haters" and people who expect perfection from a machine coming on to sites like this hurt sales. People come here to research before purchase, and people bellyaching about how their bike was in the shop and what a POS it is and how their dealer couldn't fix it, etc. hurt the brand. Nevermind that EVERY brand of motorcycle has issues. I've never owned a motorcycle that didn't have a problem. Even a Honda. 5) The 1125 was rushed to market, but that wasn't the downfall of Buell. All the issues with the 2008 1125 were corrected fairly quickly. From the outside looking in, the real killer for Buell was the dealer network. I know there are some dealers (such as my local shop, Bumpus) who do a great job of supporting the brand, but they are the ONLY Buell dealer I've ever been in that had the bike displayed front and center and actively promoted the brand. I've been in other Buell dealers who didn't even have a T-Shirt in stock. Of all the bikes I've ever owned (and I've owned a bunch), my Buells are my favorite. Not because of what the stat sheet says, but because of how they perform in the real world. I badly want to go buy another one before they are all gone, but I just bought a new CR a few months back, so my new bike fund is depleted. |

I feel that the biggest mistake with the 1125R was the public intro at Laguna Seca, to this day the're people in the media that pull that debacle out when they talk about the bike. Remember you don't get a second chance at a first impression. |

Okay 1st this site needs a way to "Quote" people sooo as of my statement "I would have never bought it ( it was a sponsored bike) but that would have been my loose because how great of abike it truly is!" yes thats exactly what it is " a contradiction" i'm stating the bike is a great bike, it would have been my loss ! ................how can you not get that? and as to the i'm mad about what I paid for my bike. ........ummm what? it's was a sponsored bike as per my contract i get to keep it......so not mad at all look, I understand human nature, you all made the choice to ride a Buell, and you HAD to defend that choice to the bitter end! trust me there are people out there that are sick of hearing you say HOW GREAT THE BUELL IS! and if your truthful with yourself you know i'm right! And when you heard about Buell folding, you felt stupid " HOW CAN THAT BE I"M SO MUCH SMARTER THEN THEM HOW CAN "THEY" WIN" is what went through your mind! "they" deing all the people that disagreed with you ! and i'm sure you got calls from your friends saying WOW did you hear about Buell {and all that did was make you feel smaller and less important} so you look for someone to blame and to redirect attention away from who could never be wrong ..."buell"! because YOU stood up for them! and championed them to a fault! to such a fault, that to save face you went down and bought a 2nd 1125R JUST TO SHOW THEM how much you believe in Buell...but all that servied to do is make you look less credible! because at some point you just need to admit you/we were all wrong , and no matter how great of a bike the 1125R was it was..in the eyes of the consumer a failure, this is seen in the poor sales #'s and yes I know about HD Credit and i understand that that played a roll in the demise of Buell ...BUT if buell was selling 30k bikes a year and not the poor 12K per year the did would that have changed things? I don't know and nether do you! My point in this was not to piss people off! I have never been into the internet thug shit! my shit talking comes on the track were I have a damn good record of making the haters look bad! as I did on the Buell, I loved the look on there faces at I took the checkered and all they could do is eat crow and shut the up! and I was looking forward to them having to see my #1 plate on the bike they said could never compete! But due to poor sales and bad loans my #1 plate on my Buell will sit in my shop and go unrecognized! and I will go back to racing on a different brand, and I do hope Buell makes some sort of a resurrection and comes back in full force! |
