That's the one I got (not installed yet) after reading all the posts and opinions expressed on the subject. It may not be the most durable choice but I am fairly "gentle" on my bike so I figured it will last long enough for me. The part 16207-79D is another choice which may last longer but requires some modification. I might have missed a few other options here but these two come to mind. Hope this helped. You can do a search and read the discussions just to be on the safe side. |

Yeah, I suppose one could butch up or mickey mouse a -79 one together and maybe along with something else at the bottom of a cracker jack box be able to say they did something.... or go with the Buellishes taste of a bag of -B throwback isolishes.....something that actually fits and works |

That is the most up to date drop in piece. However, I am about to install my third one in the span of about 2200 miles. This third one I ordered the Drag Specialties one which is the same as the Buell part but for 20.00. Can't be much worse the the factory one at this point. |

On that DS part.. consider checking the motor mount and bolts, or even replacing the bolts..... if the mount if flawed in any way you will have problems.. (Message edited by oldog on October 08, 2009) |

I didn't mention the DS part mainly because most folks seemed to complain about excessive vibration, potentially resulting in breaking the front engine mount bolt(s). I think that is what Oldog is alluding to. |

Holy crap! I just got that DS part today. That is some stiff rubber. The original is somewhere between the new Buell ones and this DS part, I can see why it would break mounts. Is anyone running the DS part with the billet mount and have they had any failures? |

There is a lot more affecting isolator wear than just the density of the rubber. It is hard to sort through all the BS on isolators. I would look for Buellistics post and follow his instructions. |

"It is hard to sort through all the BS on isolators." While that may be true but there was quite a bit of personal experience intermingled with personal opinion in all the posts written on the subject. It is just hard to separate the two. Having said that, I do remember reading about someone breaking the mount bolts (or may be just one bolt) even after using the super duper billet mount. I also fully agree with "There is a lot more affecting isolator wear than just the density of the rubber." |

I'm going to pull my heads this winter and fix some oil leaks. This front isolator controversy has me concerned. The bike has 55,000 miles near as I can tell it has the original iso. Do I use the one I have over, get the buell, bore out the latest FXR replacement or use the Drag Spec. I plan on installing new rear isolators with new hardware signed Confused |

just pulled out my iso last night, it was riped half about way through. Bike has 18k miles on it and i don't think this is the orig. iso but not sure. Found the cause of my bolt failure. going to replace with the Drag iso. |

I had both bolts shear off on the front head. I figured the isolator had failed and that metal to metal jarring snapped the bolts. I was surprised to find the isolator intact without any cracking. I reused that isolator even though I had bought a new one from American Sport Bike expecting the worse. So far so good with the isolator. Bike has 25K miles on it now. Safe ride, Gary in Oaktown |

I wonder who makes the mount for DS? Lord? There is no number or anything printed on it. The density of the rubber is the same as the -79D/.TA part, just don't have to drill it out. Who has the DS mount and how much more does it vibrate? If I install this, I'm getting the billet mount. |

" It is hard to sort through all the BS on isolators. I would look for Buellistics post and follow his instructions. " I disagree too about any of the talk being bullshit. Buellistics last view was to go with -79D iso when his fails....that was BEFORE we all found out that the latest ISO out of the factory is the -b ISO. Who cares. The factory did what i asked them to do. I dont have to buy a blast iso or do anything else. We can now buy the old spec that appears to be the best combination in life and comfort. It is the -79b ISO..... Ill be buying one for spring and die-selecting the oem one for its 9 year old birthday. The horror....MF die! Jramsey here pie o neered the -79D hack job last summer. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/discus.cgi?pg=prev&topic=47623&page=384705 Thats no BS either IMHO. http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r200/ebutch/100_0755.jpg (Message edited by mmmi_grad on October 09, 2009) |

I typed "front isolator: in the BadWeb search engine and a lot of what I would call BS showed up. I have used the HD -79 isolator, the original Buell isolator the Buell replace isolator with no problem. The only time I had a front isolator fail badly was when an original rear isolator went bad due to my own fault. That is all I know and I do not pretend to know everything about isolators but I have about 5 sitting in the garage in various stages of failure to study them but I have removed only one that was catastrophic. I have used the HD -79 isolator without drilling it out for the last 8K miles on one bike (S2T). I used the replacement Buell isolator for the last 9K miles on another S2T and at least 5K miles on a heavily abused S1W. I will not get sucked into this debate again so just do what works for you. I am sure there are a lot of duty experts out there. |

My "butchered, mickey mouse'd,-79D hack job.....that I got from the bottom of a box of cracker jacks" is still doing fine fourteen months later, I also put the same in my X1 last spring as preventative maintenance. I'm with Frank, just do what works for you. |

OK, at the risk of belaboring the point, or , could someone just tell me how does the part L0501.2 fit into the part 16207-79X evolution path? No more BS from me... |

Jim, Im on my original mount, but i can feel that it is torn a little bit. Im going to use the ds iso with a billet mount this winter. seems to work for me, you have the "super bolts" if the mount pads are flat and the bolts are properly installed you should be golden..} |
