but it was gorgeous. Woke up, sat the fire red sky and headed North . . . not exactly sure where. Ended up wandering through Harriman State Park, ended up somewhere around Orange County Choppers, they accross the Beacon Bridge, wandered more, accross the Bear Mountain Bridge, past Bear Mountain and down the Palisades. Fun stuff. . . I woke up . . . saw this out the window and couldn't wait to hit the road. Elmore, NJ . . don't look for a nastier town, there isn't one. Check out the traffic on the Garden State Parkway! The side roads around Harriman State Park were just as traffic free. And the lake was perfectly still . . . Always have to watch for these guys . . . they are everywhere. Caught him hiding in the brush. Some are luckier than others . . . Stopped in a quaint little town for coffee And got the neatest surprise . . . look what one of the locals had in the window of his vacant shop. The pristine Ducati appealed to me much more than this . . . There's just something odd about a motorcycle shop, on a gorgeous sunny day, being surrounded by Ferrari's and having a special "trailer unloading" area. All the locals will recognize these two shots . . I see them at least once a week at work . . they never get old. . . .and . . as promised I was home by Noon, a short 245 miles . . in time to
do chores WATCH ESLICK KICK ASS AND SEE THAT THE BUELL WON AT PIKE'S PEAK! . . what a weekend! Now I've added some more places to my "must return and explore" list".

Court, nice pics. If I may hijack a little but it is related. I went out for a little ride today and got rained on 4 separate times but was dry when we arrived at 11 Mile Canyon. There is a little trail going up to some rocks over looking the lake and is was easy on the Uly. The Cabin
The Storms that followed us
The end of the world. Only Altitude showed up. I could not get the cheap camera to focus but it is at 8,700 feet.
The tie in to your post, this is where I was when we talked today. Frank (Message edited by f_skinner on July 19, 2009) |

Very cool! . . . would you describe our conversation as "an isolated incident"? Great pics! |

an isolated incident To tell you the truth it was just nice to talk about Buell. Every time that happens I get re-energized. At a gas station on the way out West a guy comes over and say's "is that a Buell" I said yes and he went on about how a Buell won at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. Great stuff. So in reality there were TWO Buell wins this weekend!!! I, like you I suspect, had a great Buell weekend. I rode my S1W, S2, S2-T and Uly and got to talk not only to you but Easy_Rider. I will say, Roger came close to breaking your record but came in 4 minutes short with a 1 hour and 4 minutes phone call! |

That time went rather quickly, too! I was surprised when I hung up and saw the elapsed time. There were things that went through my head but I didn't get out in the conversation. They'll wait for another day. Thanks again for your time. The only riding I managed to get in was a foolish dash to work and back under threat of rain. I'll have to live vicariously through you guys and others for now. (Message edited by Easy_Rider on July 20, 2009) |
