Well, it's here. A Buell Race ECM. Holy Crap. This thing does a bunch of stuff. My mind is still spinning from reading the "quick start" guide... Y'All wish me luck in not doing anything stupid and blowing up my bike, and of course I will keep you posted on the mayhem. Deep Breath... Here we go! R |

I'm still waiting for your Drummer Dyno updates on Youtube... your last video was quite good, actually. |

The guy I borrowed the camera from moved... I do plan to be doing more dyno sessions, same place, and with changes to the ECM. Looking at this as an A/F monitor and datalogger: http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/lm2.ph p Has an onboard SD card for logging. Doesn't seem to require a separate computer/palm unit. R |

Well, I encountered one of Buell's anti-tampering devices. The elusive ECM... Clever of them to hide it in the front left pod...! I just plugged in the ECM as it came, and the good news is it started and ran. Made a ridiculous amount of power, too. Front end light and wiggling all the way thru 4th gear. Bad news is it was backfiring like crazy on deceleration, would barely idle, and was virtually unrideable. Don't know if the previous owner had some odd map in it, or if the issue is in the 08R-09CR difference, i.e. different injectors and placement, etc. One thing is for sure, there is a significant amount of good to be had, and a whole lot of potential for bad stuff. For now the stock box is back on, and I will continue to putter. Wish me luck! R |

If you drill 7 holes in it, it will be lighter and faster. |

What, the TPS? I was going to go with a carbon fiber one... R |

If you drill 7 holes in it, it will be lighter and faster. Don't forget the NOS energy drink in the tank either. |

The LM-2 sure looks good on paper. The one I got was useless. Sent it back a week ago. Haven't heard anything back yet. Good luck getting it to log RPM on this bike. |

Really. Thanks for the input on the LM-2. Zeitronix is the other brand I'm looking at. R |

Anybody out there used this software before? Got it all loaded, and the files copied as per the instructions, and when I go to open on of the "projects" that were already on the disk, it says it can't read them. Thoughts? R |

No first hand experience, but here's the process that was posted over in the Racing section: 1. Plug the serial port cable into the bike at the only place it can plug in on the ECM loom and into the serial port on the PC. 2. Start the PCM program. 3. Load the .prj file from TM. 4. Turn on the ignition key and make sure run switch is on run, program says port is open. 5. Click on Module->Send All. 6. Program gets active, Process=Loading XX%. 7. When Process=Polling, click Module->Verify 8. Turn key off and back on. 9. Click Module->Verify. 10. Zeroize throttle. 11. Start the bike. |

Seems to me, maybe I'm drunk, but why not - Aggressive timing/fueling, from 75-100% TPS, 7-10.5k rpm. Moderate timing/fueling below that for "town riding". With the level of adjustments with this ECM, why not? Cake and eat it too... |
