These are all just from this morning... Headline: Small Border Crossings to get Big Share of Funds Synopsis: The smallest of border crossings (as little as 2 cars per day) are receiving bailout money, while the busiest are getting none. Headline: First U.S. Swine Flu Death Synopsis: The article contained something about NOT tightening up the borders or screen folks coming in for the disease. Headline: Swine Flu Name Offensive to Jews, Muslims Synopsis: They think it should be called "Mexican Influenza", because pigs are dirty and should not be eaten in their cultures. Headline: Islamic Group gets Online Video Game Removed Synopsis: A game depicting religious figures (from ALL religions) fighting in battle was too offensive to some folks. I read too many articles that make me think, "WTF???". Better than being uniformed I guess. Rant over. |

i read somewhere, i think it was reuters, that obama wants 1.5B in cash to goto swine flu research. EXCUSE ME, but haven't we already got the vaccine for it, just not enough for everybody. so it takes that kind of money to make enough for the majority. its just another end of humanity craze. seriously!!! |

They think it should be called "Mexican Influenza" That won't work either. I'll be offended. I'm a Baptist, we don't eat Mexicans. |

Hey, they are finally agreeing on something. It's a start. Headline: Islamic Group gets Online Video Game Removed Synopsis: A game depicting religious figures (from ALL religions) fighting in battle was too offensive to some folks. Wasn't this an episode of South Park? Oh wait, the game doesn't have "Sea-man". Headline: Small Border Crossings to get Big Share of Funds Synopsis: The smallest of border crossings (as little as 2 cars per day) are receiving bailout money, while the busiest are getting none. Do you have any idea how many Canadians, let alone Mexicans you can fit into 2 cars? About time someone thought outside the box. |

the first US death was a Mexican that was being treated in the US. Closing the border would not allow Mexicans to come to the US for health care. WTF is right!!! |

I enjoyed hearing that The White House allocated $1,500,000,000 in funds yesterday to stave off the 71 known cases. . . . it's the kind of fiscal efficiency I expect from them. I just hope that $21,126,760.56 per person is enough to cover the medical treatment. |

Once that germ makes it across the border and has its offspring. Those new germs are citizens and we are obligated to take care of them. being as since you can't separate them from the host..... |

Those new germs are citizens and we are obligated to take care of them. Maybe we should offer them a plane ride around NYC to see the sites.... |

Whatever the damn thing is it's spreading pretty far. Germany, Austria, Canada, France and New Zealand are some other that have reported cases. From what their saying it feels like your basic flu. That kinda sucks because you may get some quack that says "Oh your fine. You just have the flu." Then BAM, your dead...scarey to think about. |

You guys crack me up, 1.5bn to stop a pandemic, that's less than 5 bucks a head! sounds cheap to me. And if he doesn't spend the money & thousands die, you'd rag his ass for that for sure. France has already got cases of it, & the specialists here are saying that it should be called Mexican flu as that's where it originated, it's human to human transmission, & not pig to human that's happening now, nothing to do with religious beliefs here. |

We are behind on flu-related deaths this year compared to the average mortality rate. We need a much better outbreak than this one to get caught up!!! |

oh and we are NOT going to stop a pandemic. A sneeze does not a pandemic make. People referring to this as a near-pandemic or potential pandemic have no sense of history (or any grasp on reality) The news-readers and news-writers just have discovered this "word-of-the-moment" - kinda like the over-use of "Date Certain" when they were referring to the Iraqui end-date. PANDEMIC!!! EEEEK!!! Oh well. Next! |

All flu outbreaks are pretty much pandemics. "A pandemic is an epidemic of infectious disease that spreads through populations across a large region; for instance a continent, or even worldwide." |

More news, so the old joke is when Krushev was pushed aside he wrote two letters and gave them to his successor, he tells the successor "when you get into trouble open the first letter, when you get into trouble again, open the second" sure enough he gets into hot water, opens the letter and it reads "blame everything on me". He does and it works like a charm, and sure enough some time later he gets in a ringer again and opens the second letter, it reads "sit down and write two letters". Apparently we are going to get four years of the first letter, and none of the second.....no matter what happens....I quote below from his "speech" in St Louis, at least tonight I can watch Fox if I want to avoid him....see..we are "remaking America"........and sending all the good parts "We have begun to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off, and we've begun the work of remaking America," Obama proclaimed. But he acknowledged, "We've got a lot of work to do because on our first day in office, we found challenges of unprecedented size and scope." "The changes that we've made are the changes we promised," Obama said. "We're doing what we said we'd do." |

Easy - just turn it off and don't watch it. The world remains unchanged - all that happens is you will be happier. |

So why don't I ever anything about "Common Cold Pandemic", "Breast Cancer Pandemic", or anything to that nature? Because a pandemic must first be an epidemic, and a disease which numbers deaths in the single digits (in the U.S.) is NOTHING compared to the 36,000 people that die from the regular ol' flu every year. |

Our country loses nearly 40,000 each year to the flu and its complications. Our newswriters are just involved in a media feeding frenzy - afraid not to report on things that every other news outlet is afraid not to report on. It feeds on itself. Wash your hands, cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough. If you MUST worry about something that might do you some damage, check your rearview mirrors more often. $1,500,000,000 isn't really much money but to squander it on a media-created non-event is silly at best - a waste of money at worst(unless you are Big Pharma). |

Interesting that it went instantly to pandemic ,completely bypassing epidemic. What bogus scheme are they flying in under the radar while the pandemic has our attention? its the old magician's trick. have everybody look to stage left while at stage right the trick is being fixed. something big is about to happen, just wait. maybe not in the next couple of months but soon. more congressmen and senators will be jumping ship(either) side and the chaos will ensue. and who will get the vaccine first? they always say the core jobs will get it first(medical, military, civil servants). i can tell you that the military doesn't seem to concerned about it. we haven't had one briefing on it yet, and i'm here in asia where the freak out is usually the highest when it comes to "pandemics". Grumpy-spending 1.5B on something one already has the technology to deal with this virus is absurd. sorry for the rambling on, but thats how i think when i write about stuff. peace |
