It doesn't look like much, but here's what 8 hours under the needle can get ya. The nasty old tribal stuff is being covered up. Stay tuned, as shading starts in a few weeks.

That's cool. May I ask what it cost to have something like that done?

Typically when you get into a project like this with multiple sessions, you pay by the hour. My artist only charges $60 an hour. That may seem like a lot, but if she was in a bigger metro area like LA or NYC, she could charge 120-150 an hour and be booked solid with her portfolio and artistic ability.

I've got 8 hours down, probably another 20-26 hours to go.

$60 an hour is very inexpensive for good work. Just remember there are some things you should never bargain shop for. Tats are way up on that list. I looked at getting a portrait and for a small one from most any artist known with a good portfolio was 500 and up. One more bit of advice on tattoos, never trust a portfolio. In Hollywood several artist had theres stolen and turn up in other "artist" shops. In other words look at the portfolios but also go by word of mouth.

I picked her to do this before I knew what she charged. Your right, tattoos aren't something you bargain shop for.

Here's a link to her myspace photo albums with some of her work. You be the judge..

You ASS! I've been itching to get back under the needle so bad! You gotta go flash your fancy ink around...lol. That is going to look sick when it's done.

Definitely have to find an artist that is passionate about what they do. Their work reflects it. With that I don't mind paying the money. Usually my guy charges me $100/hour. I love sitting at the needle. Again...that's gonna look B A when it's finished.
