If you could find a motor with a clean title, you might be able to get the bike registered. I built my S1W using the motor from an S3T. But I was able to retain the title from S1W frame because the chopper builder had a title for his frame. If the previous owner bought the frame from a reputable company, they should have been able to supply a vin for the frame. (Message edited by lake_bueller on December 26, 2008) |

IMO to the original thread that bike should not have been cannlbalized for a mutant. If I mis-understood, please accept apology for a quick defense. Henceforth I DO NOT recommend Redneck Engineering for there "DIY" kits!!! |

Sorry Fun, The COP-OUT was directed at Red neck, BTW I have seen some damn fine hand work [ files, hack saw etc, ] Having a machine shop is not a prerequsite to doing good work, It just makes it easier, a lathe is about the only thing that is a must have, for making things like axles / spacers etc. Using what you have available properly is, a mark of skill and creativity My comment was Not meant to be a snub on you .... We will not talk about some of my hand work projects, as not all of them turned well, but I did not charge any one good money for them either. My 0.02$ I did not pay for the Donor bike, I prefer the unique-ness of our tube frame Buells, VS the Kit bikes, As I indicated in my comments, I felt that the redneck bikes are a bit crude in the execution, Following the RNE logic not for DIY They could have sent you a pile of tubing, flat bar and a set of prints and said "its a kit" properly engineered accessory / Custom items fit and work in the intended application. As far as My bike being "all that" not in the past couple of years, I am sorry as, I reread my post I see why you have misunderstood my post and were offended, I am not a big chopper fan but I'm not doing the creative bit, to each his own, I WISH that you could return the items that were purchased from Redneck "engineering" for a refund of your money, It's good that you chose to share this for any one else that may contemplate that project. |

I decided to chip in my $.02 worth. In my opinion anyone who would cannibalize a perfectly good Buell and make it into a Redneck chopper is a both and idiot and a moron and I hope they are all offended! I wasn't surprised that Redneck Engineering was a bunch of rip off artists either and laughed my ass off when I read Jstfrfun's message. Anyone attempting to adulterate a Buell like deserves to get the shaft! Anyhow this website is supposed to be about Buells not Redneck Choppers! KK |

To the point KK, RNE targets the engine and trans from the Buell because of the mounting design(by the heads) instead of the standard sportster. It makes a cleaner frame. Now the product is built by idiots drunks and dope fiends evidently. I agree with you on your point of view on a "perfectly good"anything being sacrificed for modification to a chopper. Lets use the derilicts the wrecks or the stolen recoveries that have been stripped and have nothing left but what is needed for a given project. At this time I'm sitting on a '05 GSXR 750 engine, complete with wiring harness hand controls and ignition switch with key! Some clown got wired out of his mind and decided to strip the bike down(after a low-side adventure), well dope fiends never prevail, and sure enough went to jail, leaving the dismantled gixer strewn about his rented trailer, the owner of which is a good customer of mine, and he gave me the engine for partial payment on a set of tires for his Gold Wing! I'll take 800! But never one of our pristeen S2s. Right now I would trade my COMPLETED project bike for that S2 before the tear-down. Olddog was right about Italiansjobs S2 it is a thing of beauty(although I could have done without the flames. I know it's a tribute, but...) |
