I was doing a search for pricing within the classifieds for some parts I am about to post and notice during the search that an avitar (picture of a bike or other) was showing up under the posting persons badweb name. I have not seen this before. Is this new or old or what? |

I think it's an old option, I've noticed it doing searches in old, old threads. |

Hmmm, Blake why not bring this back. I kind of liked it. |

There were some, er, content issues with some folks' avatars and the feature was disabled. rt |

Ah . . .another of the ever present and pernicious incidences of the "lowest common denominator syndrome" . . . |

I found that I'm irregular drinking low fat eggnog. Other than that, I'm good. |

That was pretty cool feature, unfortunetley, some of the members didn't abide by rules and it went away. I really don't remember what I had up there, but then again I don't remember what I did yesterday! |

Love eggnog. It's irregular in the fact that it's seasonal around here. Another holiday staple that you can find on a regular basis in our fridge is pickled eggs and beets. Gotta love them. Makes for some irregular odors at times and have been the source of a few tear-jerking Dutch-ovens. Great nonetheless. |

I obviously have no say, but turning avatars off because certain people abuse the privilege sucks. What ever happened to a good old IP ban? Warning. Final warning. Bye bye. ~SM |

WoW Froggy, what a bunch of crap.... I read through both of those threads and it is pretty clear if it aint efficient (administratively) it doesn't get to be a feature on badweb. ~Pitty~ |

The avatars were a pain in the butt. Folks, see a couple of the instant threads, constantly testing the boundaries. . . who needs it. (Message edited by court on December 16, 2008) |

Got beige? This site often reminds me of my Dad's 80's "K" car. |

it slays me the number of otherwise seemingly decent people who throw spectacular hissy fits when some feature or policy of BadWeB isn't to their exact liking. folks, you have no idea what it's like trying to maintain an "acceptable" level of decorum on a site that is trying to be family-safe and work-safe and warm and friendly and informative and valuable and fun for all. the easiest thing in the world for us custodians to do would be to say NO RULES! it'd sure make our job a lot easier. and in about a week this place would be a festering cesspool of trash-talking and filth and worthlessness, just like so many other "un-moderated" boards. we try to make BadWeB all things to as many people as we can. sometimes we do better than others, but we're always trying. for the few of you who constantly complain about this place and it's core values and how it's moderated and managed, please consider the sting of your words and the fact that your harsh, negative comments are being directed at about six or seven hard-working custodial volunteers. and the fact that you're bitching on a site that charges you absolutely nothing to view and participate in. put another way: if you came into my home as an invited guest and i fed you supper, and at the dinner table you suddenly bitched me out in front of my family about some aspect of how i ran my household, you'd surely leave my premises in an awful hurry and never be invited back. but, honestly, who here would be rude enough to behave so badly in someone's home like that? which begs the question: why is our BadWeB home any different?? Happy Holidays to the 99.99% of you folks who continue to make this place so cool and enjoyable to call home, nearly eleven years in and counting. FB |

The other question involved, as I seem to remember, was the amount of bandwidth it consumed. I can't say I was particularly bothered one way or the other. |

Jerry_H, I can appreciate your comments. I have no issues with Badweb or Blake. I am a tech junkie and I love my features and gadgets. I wish we could incorporate more into this surrogate home for all Buellers. Yep, that's my Christmas wish... |

The other question involved, as I seem to remember, was the amount of bandwidth it consumed. I remember that as the reason given for why they were dropped too. Looking at that old page was cool. Wonder what happened to Fullpower. I know Dago is busy riding his R6 on the track in Tejas. |

We need a Badweb hate mail section!

Let me tell you. I joined their forum and was treated so poorly that I actually had to seek psychiatric help and am in the process of filing suit for harassment and slander and lost compensation. This is the worst Buell forum I have ever used and want to let other people know how bad it is and how horrible they will treat you. Bad Weather Bikers is unfair, dishonest and will continue to bully you as long as you're a member. It was by far the worst forum I have ever been a part of. All they will do is give you bad advice and then blame you when things go wrong. Not only that, but they make you sound stupid for asking questions about your new bike, thinking everyone is a pro. The person who was the worst is named Blake, I think a Custodian too. Whatever you do, do not register, do not post and find another Buell forum to use. James Columbia Falls, Montana U.S.A.

It was that stupid picture of the girl in pink underwear on a bike. Things went ballistic after that. Not much different from the Girls on Bikes Photo thread. |

there was a big difference because if you do not feel that the girls photo thread is work safe you can not open that one. With the pink underwear picture you could not open any thread that the person who had it had posted in. |

...Not much different from the Girls on Bikes Photo thread. people are funny, my friend. so are the custodians who oversee this place. some days we're more "tolerant" than others. some days we're doing our walk-around of this place after a coupla cups of strong coffee (or strong hootch), and maybe on that day something we see doesn't sit right, that on another day we might not think twice about. the avatars were kinda cool, i guess - personally i could take 'em or leave 'em - but it got to be enough *work* for us that we nuked 'em. i *think* they *could* come back - it'd just take a couple of keystrokes and mouse clicks, no rocket science involved (thank goodness for me; not one of my strong points...) - if enough peeps asked for it. yep, lots of scanties on the Babes on Bikes thread, of which i have zero issues, but at least those pix are "sequestered" away on a thread and not showing up as avatars on every post on every thread on the board. holiday greetings to you & Mrs. Bird; i hope she has finally forgiven me...
