Need to know if someone has done this mod. I have a set of forks with trip trees from a(n) 99 X1. I have a 2002 M2. What problems could I encounter? Tank clearance? Don't know. I have posted befor with little reaction. I also know there are other that want to have this conversion. So I need to know how to get started. Or if will even work at all.
Thanks,
Todd

It will should work in theroy ;) The only thing i can think you might need will be a new front axle spacers. And to move around some wires and break line but that should be it. And a new front fender.

Todd,
I also have a 2000 Buell M2 that I have done that conversion. All you need is the forks and triple trees everything else you already have. Don't need brake line and don't have to move any wiring this is a direct bolt up. Click on my profile you will see my bike. Excuse it looking like an S1 but it is an M2

Dana,
Thanks that is what I have been looking for! What about the Speedo and windscreen? Will the M2's work with that conversion? or do I need the S1 X1?

Todd I forgot one small thing you will need the brackets for a X1 so your headlight and turnsignals will fit because your going to a larger MM. Fork.

The 1999 - 2002 S3 is a M2 frame with X1 suspension so, of course, it works. I'm told that the stock M2 forks work better than stock X1 forks so you might wind up spending lots of extra money on RaceTech parts for your new setup. The re-valved and re-sprung X1 forks are really smooth though.

Ray...The S3 & M2 are not on the same frame. They are close and I think you are correct about the X1 fork fitting an M2. The difference in the S3 & M2 frame are in the tail section.

Almost ready! Just as soon as it is really to cold. You know enough time to get off the bike so it can be mod. I think I have everything I need to do this. But, I do have the M2L, I am thinking this might make a difference. I should be able to adjust the fork hight from the trees? I am going to put some pics of my baby, so others who want this conversion, for no other reason, just because, will know what it looks like even though it will look very close to Dana's. Thanks
Todd

Todd

be careful when sliding the fork tube up the trees . . . .you don't want to create a situation where the fender hit the bottom trip tree before it runs out of travel . . .. .

that said, I have no idea what the travel on those forks are . .. . or, how high the lower tree sits in relation to the ground, either . . .just something to think about
