i did some searching on the board, but didn't find what i wanted... so sorry if is another beat-the-dead-horse thread. anyone in the Denver area got the tools to reset a TPS / verify timing? i've already made an appointment at RMHD, but would rather pay "beer" than "money"... OR, as i have access to tire equipment and a balancer, we could work some kind of exchange? expanding on this question, how does one obtain ECMSpy and the required cable? |

I'm in Arvada. Got ECMSpy on my laptop and the cable (although the battery on the computer is shite, so I can't go too far from a outlet). No problem resetting your TPS and/or verifying your timing! Has the timing cover ever been off before? If not, we'll have to drill off/out the rivets. As far as the program, it's a free download. I built my own cable, but I do believe that there's a website that you can pick one up complete. I don't remember it right now, though. Tire equipment and balancer, you say? Hmmmm.... PM me for details/address! (Message edited by elf on July 29, 2008) |

PM returned your way! Sounds like we need another "Tuning Party" in the Denver area. I got together with Snowscum and Red_chili at Red_chili's place in Littleton about a month ago for the same thing. Red_chili is better at tweaking fuel maps with ECMSpy than I am (I can do it, but I'm a little leery of it still...), but I can verify timing and DEFINITELY reset your TPS (I've done mine numerous times)! Plus, if you've never had your timing cover off, we can set it up to be removable. I've got some sweet stainless Allen heads that we can use! PM and let me know what works for you! Chasten, I have some tires that I need to mount - maybe we can work something out? (Message edited by elf on July 30, 2008) |

I'd not only be VERY interested in a tuning party- I have a laptop with a 2 hour battery, a cable, all the usual software.... and a 900+ Sq foot garage. If you don't mind slumming in the wilds of Commerce City- I can host one on any given Sunday. Merlyn -- Combat City, Colorado |

i'd definitely be down for the meetup in C.C. (or where ever, really)... my timing cover still has rivets and replacing them with threaded fasteners is for sure on the list. elf... the tire machine that i can use is in Aurora, anyway, so that may work out well. how many tires are you talking about? dismounts / mounts are super easy. balancing is also easy, but takes a little time to do it just right (i'm using a Rod Neff balancer: http://www.pbase.com/rodneff/2axis_adj_balancer). anyway, some logistics to work out, but we should definitely do this. |

Chasten, I'm going to order the tires Friday, so no real hurry. I'm replacing both tires on the bike. I would bring them to you off the bike. Dismount old, mount new and balance. All, As far as a meetup is concerned, any Sunday works for me. Would this Sunday be too soon? Spatten1, Maybe see if Raymond might want to bring his bike. We could look at his fuel pump issue... |

I was thinking that the 10th might work better for me as well. (get the "honey-dos" out of the way, so I can go play motorcycles...) I've asked Red_chili and Snowscum if they'd like to attend. Get some tuning expertise! Merlyn, what's your limit of people? We could get quite a few! (Message edited by elf on July 30, 2008) |

The 10th looks good for me (going riding this Sunday) I'll double-check with the wife to make sure I don't have any plans I didn't know about. As for people... Well, it's going to be hard to get more than maybe 6-7 bikes in the garage with room to work on them at a time- but I have no shortage of outside parking. No real limit, but be advised I only have one bathroom :: chuckle :: Merlyn |

So, is it a go for the 10th? Merlyn, we'll need a time and address... |

Allrighty- I spoke to my wife, and the 10th is a go! Time..... How's 10 until whenever sound? I have a reasonable number of lights, and as long as we stop revving bikes before 10-11pm, the neighbors shouldn't care much. I don't have a grill, but there's excellent Mexican food nearby (El Jardin's), pizza hut delivers, and if someone happened to fetch a grill along.... Anywho, sounds like a party to me- Bring whatever you like in way of refreshments (adult or otherwise), and I'll chip in some sodas. Address is: 8190 Quebec St #3 (the white 2 story with the big garage door) If there are any details you'd like to work out past the basics, feel free to PM for my phone number. Merlyn |

This sounds great. I'm probably free the 10th, have to get approval from the wife. Thanks guys! Ray has his bike torn down now, and it's not obvious what the fueling problem is yet. The filters look fine. Fingers crossed for him. |

Chasten, you have a PM. Spatten1, so do you. Merlyn, thanks for hosting this! It'll be fun! BTW, do you have a cordless drill we can use to drill out the timing cover rivets? I've got the bit and a tap, just need the drill. |

Spatten1: Sure! The more the merrier. There's a Denver Rider's list? How does one go about getting on that? Elf: Yep! Oh- on a semi-unrelated note... I am planning on making a little short ride this Monday, if anyone is interested in going. I25 to Ft Collins, CO14 to CO125, CO125 to US40, US40 to I70, I70 home. About 325 miles, all told. Merlyn |

Thanks, Scott! It would be fun to get a bunch of Buellers together! Might want to check with Merlyn, though. Could get crowded! (restroom issue ) I already checked with Snowscum and Red_chili. Snowscum said he wasn't going to be able to make it, and I haven't heard from Red_chili (sure could use his tuning expertise! Hey, King of Capsaicin, are you listening?) Who all do you have on the list, Scott? Merlyn: SHORT ride? Ye Gads! Wish I could join! Perfect on the setup! I'll bring a thumb drive with some tunes on it! Google Maps says it's about 6 1/2 hours. I'll probably head out about 0900, hope to be home by dark :: chuckle :: Elf- Ask the Uly guys- they ride farther than that to go pick up smokes, I think. Merlyn (Message edited by merlyn on August 01, 2008) |

Yeah - pickin' up "smokes" in HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA! I've ridden with them. Called me a "Nancy" when I said something! I blamed it on my knee, mentioned something about not having a friggin' BARCALOUNGER for a seat, then shut my mouth and hid in the corner... I DID ride from here to Deals Gap two years ago, though! That was before I blew out my knee. We took our sweet time getting there. |

Hey guys, The Denver area Buell club will be meeting for our 1st Sunday of the month breakfast at the Red Rocks Grill in Morrison at 10:00am (this Sunday) with usually a ride to follow. All are welcome. This is the group Scott is talking about. I also might be interested in joining you guys. I do my own tps resets using ecm spy but mainly would want to learn about tuning the fuel maps. JC |
