Problems/Miles (Please be specific): | fuel warning lamp/odo do not work. stopped working @~4000 miles. dealerships have tried to repair three times... thankfully, the trip odo works just fine as a fuel gauge. UPDATE: the dealership was never able to fix the problem with the fuel lamp... but when i put some electrical contact grease on the IC connector, it suddenly started functioning again. transmission will often not want to shift into third. UPDATE: transmission issues were all result of a damaged shift drum / fork, which required a total teardown to repair. (this teardown was then the excuse to do the engine performance mods) charging system failure due to bad stator at ~12k miles. |

Favorite Rides (Roads and Routes): | deer creek canyon, parmalee gulch, turkey creek road, bear creek road, lookout mountain road, squaw pass, golden gate canyon; sedalia to deckers to conifer to waterton canyon; for a long loop: us40 into the national park, trail ridge road into estes park, hwy7 south to nederland, 119 into boulder, 93 back to golden... Colorado Rockies have some of the best routes. it's hard to limit the mileage to less than 4 hours. |
Why I do/don't ride a Buell: | i have always wanted a motorcycle... a sportbike. but one day i saw an XBS in my neighborhood. i went to the dealership, and when i saw my Scg tucked away in the corner, i heard that choir-of-angels sound in my head. the rest is history. |
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: | Buell improvements?... encourage the US aftermarket to develop more products for these machines. stop using Torx fasteners. replace the entire transmission with something a lot less tractor-like. dedicated dealerships would be nice... i have little love for the HD dealerships i've dealt with. |
