Who was your motorcycling hero, while you were growing up (assuming some of us actually did complete this process ...I know i haven't!) I'm sure Evel will be mentioned a bunch...who can deny HIM hero status? Who ELSE? |

My dad, he owned a motorcycle for as long as I could remember. He took me to motorcycle dealerships and shows, basically introduced me to the life. When I first got into motorcycle racing: Picotte Russell Hayden Back when they were racing AMA. |

Of course Evel but also Bob Hurricane Hannah. Kenny Roberts (big brat though) and Freddie Spencer. Wayne Rainey is an all time favorite for his racing and his strength after the accident. I used to be a yamaha fanatic. Mick Doohan, and Miguel DuHammel are some later ones. This still hangs in the garage, it is the top part of a stand up display for a contest many years ago. Wish I hadn't put the vance and hines on it. The wayne's world bit I still like, and the green dot is from my first track day.

I had a poster on my early-teenage bedroom wall of Fast Freddie Spencer leaning WAY over on a Honda (back in the mid-80s). I knew nothing about motorcycles, only that they looked cool. Over 20 years later, when I had a few years of riding under my belt, I came across a picture of my old bedroom with that poster on the wall. I'd totally forgotten that I had been into bikes so long ago, and now here I am, a grownup with 4 of them out in the driveway. So, though Freddie wasn't a "hero", he was influencing me from an early age. The people that REALLY got me thinking about bikes were all the regular folks around me who were taking the plunge, taking the MSF course, and getting their own sleds. I finally said, "Why can't I?" |

Roberts, Lawson, Rainey. Guess which brand I rooted for (and still do to this day, actually). |

Roberts, Lawson, Rainey. Guess which brand I rooted for (and still do to this day, actually). I considered getting the tuning forks as a small tattoo, ankle or something- don't have any, just natural scars with memories. Unity Balance and Harmony, the three forks overlayed. It's cool that they have gone to that symbol and the Kenny Roberts bumble bee racing stripes. Drew those on my girlfriend's cast after she t-boned a car on her TW200 back in the day.\black}} (Message edited by miamiuly on August 01, 2008) |
