Anyone with a Bolt want to trade over to a Lightning tail? I Have integrated turn signal light and select seat. Still have the passenger foot peg mounts too, they're just not on the bike.

You need to water your lawn, and tell your lazy neighbor to mow his damn grass. |

Glitch, Is there any pro/con from your conversion, from S to R seat/tail? |

First pic is from last year in middle of summer we had a drought. And ya the neighbor is a lazy bastard. I've done the research and know what has to be done, just need to find someone willing to do the swap. |

No cons I like the R seating, and I have the Crossroads clip ons, so it's very nearly an R. I can slide from side to side a lot easier, where the S seat kept me more in one position. I like the look as well. |

I would but I would also believe you would want someone with a black bike. So I doubt I'd be any help. |

I can always paint it. Have a buddy who owns an auto body shop. (Message edited by lightningstrikes on May 29, 2008) |

I second Glitch. Definitely better that way. I don't think I could have dealt with that Lightning seat any longer. I think it lasted one season on mine. Every bit worth the time and effort. And it just looks great. Pic on profile. Rich |

Is there a detailed description of the parts needed and labor involved? I believe on the R that the ECM is in the fairing, was it relocated after the swapped? If so where? What else was relocated or caused extra labor? I have always considered this swap. I have the stock seat plus corbin, saddlebags, integrated taillight. If interested, lets talk. Thank you

In and R/S tail swap the R bike doesn't need anything other than to remount the brake res (The R has all it's stuff in front) -- the S bike needs a longer brake res hose (the R has a longer one) and the S has to mount all their electronics into the new R tail so there is some modding/retrofitting needed. From the posts in the forum about the process it seems not to be too big a deal but it is some work. Good luck! |

Sorry to steal the thread but did you paint the cover black on the left side by your shifter or did you by one, because on my bike its that old looking green. |

^^^ If that question was directed at me. They come black on the XB9 models and they are a different color on the XB12 models. |

Link to S to R tail swap in Knowledge Vault. I used the S rear master cylinder and just fabbed a simple mounting bracket. |
