U.S. Highway 50 from Holden, UT to Carson City, NV. It is 570 road miles, 425 bee line miles. All two lane in good shape except for a short jaunt on I-15. Beautiful riding, occasional stretches of technical riding, nice climbs and descents, lots of time to just enjoy the scenery and contemplate life. I crossed it four or five times in a cage, outside of the small communities I'll bet I didn't see more than one car every 30 minutes or so. Be on something reliable and plan your fuel stops carefully. I think there is a 150 or 170 mile stretch with no services. Eureka, NV is a great town to spend a night in. No photos, sorry. Jack |

>>>I'll bet I didn't see more than one car every 30 minutes or so. You're very accurate. . . everytime I ride accross it I have a stop watch and time the time between cars. 28 - 35 minutes is an expected value. One of my favorite roads. . . . climb. . . descend. . head along that straight as a string road for 35 miles to the mountain in the distance . . . repeat for 10 hours. |

September 8, 2005: Heading southwest on Utah Highway 24 in the general direction of Hanksville, Capitol Reef Nat'l Park and Torrey. DBird and LBird in slots #1 and #2, LittleBuggles in #3, and FB&D behind the lens, documenting the, um, loneliness of it all. |

Here's a few from a 911 ride I did in 06. The highway is RT 95. If you know this highway going into NYC then you will know how amazing these pictures actually are. No cagers anywhere around us except for the MA/CT/NY's finest. We had a police escort from Hopkinton, MA to Ground Zero.

Sometimes the loneliness of the road isn't so much defined by the road as it is by the ride. Loneliness is not being able to ride:
