fatigue doesn't even begin to say how easy it is for the early st's to come apart but the updated one is great. |

billetmetallic,, do you have a part # for the one you are getting??? that could help determine what it will fit.. think they made three different slip ons.. one for the s2,, straight in 2" inlet.. one for the early 2" elbow inlet,, and then the 2-1/2" elbow inlet.. i think that there early production have flat ends and latter ones tapered down.. i remember that the opening on my one that fits the stock s2 header was a little large on the inlet end and i had to make a copper insert that sealed between the two pipes.. worked great though.. made great low end torque.. but not quite enough flow for upper end.. now i run the race header and can,, great up top but not enough low end balance.. almost think too much flow.. think "my ideal" seat up will be the factory race header, with the 2-1/2 modded borla to fit it.. think that will be the perfect match for my bike.. now i just need to make it happen.. |

ky, i know what your up against, two of my own but their older now. you can always do like rotzaruk did and just bring his whole family just about. although i know that wouldn't work for you also. |

Aaomy, the part # supplied was 08-762 but i havnt found anything on that part number via google, as far as the end, in the pictures it is tapered and parallel to the ground. I appreciate your insite on subject! bye the way, you got any soundclips of the borla? (Message edited by billetmetallic on February 03, 2008) |

Aaomy - I love the setup I have now. Stock S2 header, $4 automotive 2" ID to 2.5" OD adaptor, and Buell race muffler. Seems to work great at all revs, and hella-stronger than the old external-disc 'trapp I took off. If you still have your stock header and the race muffler, pick up one of the adaptors and give it a shot. I think you'll like |

billetmetallic,, that is an old custom chrome part number.. it fits 1996-1998 s1, m2, and s3 models with the 2" collector. borlas part # would have been 125002.. hope this helps.. could post some more borla info i scanned in but dont want to hi, jack this thread.. ratbuell.. thanks,, but had run the stock head pipe with many set ups.. presonally i dont see much internal difference between the race can and a vance and hines.. both flow threw a perforated tube.. i did like that set up but it fell a hair short when pushed to higher rpms. i love the race header and can but think there is one more step to make the exhaust better.. and bettin my bippy,, that the borla and race header will give me that. |

custom chrome is a "harley" "custom" motorcycle cataloge.. i will scan in some info when i get a chance.. exhaust all depend on your bike.. what you have done and what you want as an end result.. in "my mind" the borla is a very good choice.. no repacking, smooth refined sound.. not harsh or raspys.. great looks and not every one and there brother has one.. this is from borlas 1998 flier,, hope you like

very cool!! thanks! as far as perf mods on my s1, all the recall work has been done, it has a v&h slip on (non carbonfibre), and a buell race aircleaner thats about it, i dont think the carb has been rejetted (due to a horrible backfire on random warm startups), any suggestions on the jets with this new borla exhaust? ps, sorry for the possible hijack, i should probably just start a new thread for the borla can |

first try the borla.. will make the bike richer compared to the vance and hines.. then you need to know what jets you have in your carb now.. |

WOW, thats all I have to say, first run with the new borla pipe is amazing, the sound is killer and it "woke" up my bike a ton! Low end torque as well as high rpm horsepower is noticably higher over my vance and hines ss2r, and i mean noticably!!!! thanks for the tip on that pipe and all the info you posted in the this and the other thread Aaomy. I guess its on to adjusting the jetting, It seems to run fine, just on decelleration I get a lot of popping backfires, the ss2r would only do that when cold (Message edited by billetmetallic on February 11, 2008) |

ebay, or here in the classifieds werewulf, i bet it would be a bad idea to go to your nearest bad web sponsored buell dealer and have them do a national dealer search, as I found mine on ebay through a harley dealership looking to get rid of old stock, actually got a "deal" on the pipe and it was brand new |

it takes some searching for them but they do show up.. purchased one for the s2 nos from e bay ,, the other form this board.. used.. all my bikes are older and not as common,, so i am used to searching for what i want or making it my self.. billetmetallic,, glad you like it.. yes you definitely need to rejet now. the popping on decell is a lean condition that you will want to fix asap.. is your carb stock?? dose it still have stock jetting?? if so i will shoot you an pm of recommendations , cheep jet kit and a couple little side steps to do while installing,, that should make your bike run sweet and not eat up much of your coin.. |
