The first track school I attended was in April, 1975 in Denver, Colorado. Everybody had to go out on the track with brooms and shovels to clear the snow away, so we could ride on it. If you're going to plan that early, I recommend making it as late in the month as possible. Even if the weather is sunny, cold temperatures can take a lot out of you, and tires aren't as sticky as they should be.

I'd prefer mid-May to mid-June. Now take out the Father's Day weekend (AMA at Elkhart is usually that weekend); take out Memorial Day weekend.

My choices:
Mondays & Wednesdays are better for me to get out off work. The weeks of May 16th, May 23rd, June 6th & June 13th look good this far in advance.

I don't really care about which track. My mom just built a new house about 15 minutes from Blackhawk Farms. Road America is a little over 1 hour from my place.

Can we get 75 people to commit to Road America at $150/person? That may sound like a lot of people but the track is HUGE. I don't think you'd notice that many bikes (25 per session).

D@mn....I think I'm hooked: D

And we have another track day junkie!

Sean and I are talking about 4 or 5 at Blackhawk next year.
We could always road trip to Brainerd for one too!

Hey I'd do Brainerd, it's only 12 hours from the house! PS. I've never ridden on a track B4 and imagine it would be cool as HEdoubletoothpicks.

This is Gingermans track layout..1.8 miles & looks challenging.

Right on the other side of the lake from mem just south of South Haven Michigan, then Spidy might even attend.

Grattan is just north of Grand Rapids Mi,

The track is a 2.0 mile long, winding, hilly road course with 10 very challenging corners. Uphill, downhill ascending and decending radius turns, Monza bowl, esses, a hidden apex hairpin, and even a downhill reverse camber corner combined with a 3,200 foot straight makes for a very FUN course.

Hmm, From my house to Blackhawk is about 590 miles - Maybe it could be set up close to the bringing it home event in Troy ? When is that, like the first of June or July ?
Just for refence, I went to a Rouge RC-51 event this year @ VIR . It was a 2 day event, Day 1 was supposed to be on the North course ( it ws raining so hard it was cancled, which never happens, but, 1 inch of rain an hour is alot of rain ) and the second was on the south. This evnt was handled by Cornerspeed - www.cornerspeed.net - and included class time/instuctor support on track and a whole lot of other cool stuff. It cost 350 bucks for botyh days and was limited to 75 people. This was a killer event and I had a whole lot of fun, maybe we could do something like this ?

Well since I started this conversation, I guess I'm in!!

As I mentioned before, Dave, I'd be willing to pay more than $150.00 if the group was smaller and Sean was willing to do more one on one instruction. I realize there is a certain amount required to crack the financial nut first.

I know you aren't Sean but these are questions I'd like to ask him...

If only 20 could go would it be twice as much?

Would Sean even be interested in such a small group?

Would anyone but me be interested in a small group, intense training / track day regardless of your level?

I personally don't care what makes show up and a $150.00 track day is great as long as everyone is on the same page as to why we are doing this and check their egos at the door.

I should have gotten the number of a guy who was at the track monday on an SV650, you could probably buy it from him cheap cause lord knows he couldnt ride it.

last session of the day & I lapped him within 5-6 laps. This guy was almost as bad as Mr.Saddlebags...Dave remembers that guy, the rolling chicane.

Road America, I have been to CLASS school, Reg Pridmore runs a good school. I've got over 3000 miles on that track now, doing his school. It IS a awesome track. Yea the R1's, Gixxer's, CBR's are gonna get ya on front straight and back straight but after that its Buell time! The deal for RA isn't a bad price. I'll sign up for that. CLASS school is usually the Monday, Tuesday after the AMA races. So that date is probaly out.

FWIW, When you're picking a track for Buells, pick one that has reasonably short straights. Most will still be belt drive and nobody wants to choose from either backing off the throttle 1/2 way down the straight to keep from abusing their ride vs. holding it at redline for 10 seconds. That would suck the fun out of the day.

I'm in and would be willing to make a deposit if necessary. Now I have something to think about all winter.

I like the idea of a track school. $220 doesn't sound bad for a deal like that.

Lake, Glad you had a good day.

Kinger,
My brother, nephew, and I are all wanting to attend a track school in the spring. I was hoping to take "learning curves" before the badweb track event. You interested also?

I could be wrong but I was under the impression that Learning Curves was a race licensing school.

BTW, for those that are less than enthusiastic about taking their street bike out on the track NESBA (Northeast Sportbike Assc.) has a pretty cool deal. They call it their "intro" class. You get a short classroom lesson then (2) 15-20 minute track sessions for FREE!!! Thats right, FREE!!! If you don't like the experience you can pack up and go home. Lets you test the waters before deciding if you want to jump in.
Sounds like a no brainer to me!

Jim

Dennis,

This is the link to the organization thats running the trackday...http://sportbiketracktime.com/

I'm looking for someone to go with. Since it's about a 7 hour drive from Madison I was thinking of leaving Sunday and finding a cheap hotel that night. Could bomb home Monday night if I bring a case of Redbull!!! All this is dependant on the weather of course. I've got room in my trailer for another bike. Let me know.
