So, how many would come to a private track day for Buell riders/Badwebbers at Blackhawk Farms?
I would need 40 riders to make it work at 150.00 per rider.
I'm in, who else?
If I can come up with enough interest I'll set it up with Sean.

Depends on if I have pants by then that zip to the jacket, and a slew of other issues, but yeah maybe - finally - "date dependant" among other things.
=====
ps, how does RoadAmerica compare to Blackhawk? Price or track-wise?
=====
pps, is or would there be a minimum engine size in this? Just curious since I finally saw a cable channel bike show last night and they showed a track day with a 250cc minimum engine size. (Just thinking of unspoken projects....)
=====
ppps, speaking of other branded bikes, I might have a couple of indirect relatives who might like to go, one on a TT600 Triumph and the other on some big Honda or Yamaha sport bike. Triumph rider has been to several track days, other rider has not.

Daves. If you don't mind a Suzuki, a Honda, and a Ducati along. I think I can safely say I could get 5 to go. Same guys I took with the Brew City Brag to the Crud Run.

Also date dependent though, for next year.

road america is longer and faster than Blackhawk

my guess would be that RA is also more expensive

my opinion is that Blackhawk is better for lesser-experienced track day dogs, and better for buells as well

I'll start playing with breathers and catch cans then, and start saving up new knickels for new tires.

I feel that it should be open to all brands too, as all my stuff is.

The date depending thing is the problem.
No one date will work perfect for everyone.
It will be during the week as most tracks have races on the weekends.

I guess we would need some commitment that you, the riders would be willing to take a vacation/sick day to attend regardless of what day in available.
Otherwise, we will go through the whole process of setting it up and put out the $$ up front and then have nobody register when it's time. I understand if it's your wifes birthday or your anniversary or some other important date would make it hard to make the track day. But, if you wait until the perfect date, you'll probably never get on the track and that would be too bad.
Almost anyone that has done a track day or 10 will tell you it's worth giving up a vacation day to go to the track.

Maybe a better plan would be to plan our day along with an existing date but have Sean available to our group all day?

I just want to get a feel for how many will attend, for sure, no matter what(except things mentioned above) before I get Sean all excited about doing a track day for us.

In my opinion Road america is a fun fun track. Blackhawk is nice...small but still nice & the Buells do very well there, but a properly ridden Buell can also fare rather well at Road america...remember its a track day not a race. And if its Buell against Buell in your session then the choice of tracks makes no difference.

Make it a Badweb day...kinda hard for me to get my Buell out on the track: D & you know im in.

I love the carousel at RA & the section leading up to canda corner is cool as hell. Almost gives you a sense of tunnel vision with the tree tops over head.

Well Road America is about 10,000.00 per day.
No way we could get enough Badwebbers there to make that work without doing it during an existing track day.

I like Blackhawk waaaaayyyyy better than Road America anyway.
Road America is kind of boring, it's too big.
Blackhawk is the size of track I like best.

Yeah, I've been to many of the historic races at RA. Love the place. Never driven/rode it though. I think the long straights would be fun. But, you guys on the Japanese sport bikes would definately fare better than us Buellers.

good points Dave, so count me in, unless it's my daughter's b'day (04/10), Peoria (2nd or 3rd weekend of August), I'm there

talk to the vendor, set the date, get deposits well in advance

you're right, it will have to be a weekday -- tracks dpon't stay in business by not racing on the weekends

ANyone thought about VIR ? Its a perfect rack for Buells ! Just ask RC ! Hes always embarassing big bore bikes around that track !
It would be a bit of a drive, but, date depending Im sure I could make it, and Im sure I could drag RC kicking and screaming along -

Steve, the front straight is ok if you just want to go balls out, but then that hard right hander comes up real fast. On my X1 I hated the front stretch, the ZX12R's & Gixxers would blow past me like I was in neutral & then I would spend 1/2-3/4 of the next lap trying to make up the time I lost. I want to do a track day there year with the R1....I think I might even like the front straight: D

But either way Dave knows im in. Hell make it Blackhawk, MAM, Gingerman, etc & im in.

Ned, its actually in Illinois, just south of the Wisconsin border. 1.95 mile track & in a number of areas you dont have much if any runoff room. Screw up there & you are either into a fence or launching your bike into the cat tails.

If the majority wants to do Road America then we just have to figure out what everyone would be willing to pay. Of course I've heard that they are booked far in advance and we might not even get a date for next year at this point.
10,000.00

66 riders at 150.00 each
50 riders at 200.00 per rider
40 riders at 250.00 each
and those are just break even figures, it would be nice if Sean could go home with a buck or two in his pocket!

I would like to see "our" day in the spring, like April(not the 10th), May or June at the latest. That way you'll have time to do more track days during the rest of the summer.

Dave would you be better off doing this more late summer so you don't have to worry about rain as much???Rain is a big factor in April and May.Just a thought.

Track days run rain or shine.
Want to really learn to ride?
Do a wet track day! Yikes!!!!

I hear you Bad. I just want to do it early enough that the first timers will have a chance to get back to another one before the year is up like it is now for those that did their first day last Monday and now they have to wait til next year to do more.

mondays or fridays easiest, but Firdays are often part of the race card (practice, setup)

suggest avoiding just before/after holidaze

Yeah but then the years over half over. I waited til Aug to do a track day this year, another in Oct and now it's over. It sucks! I want more!
Nope I say we do it in the spring. It hardly ever rains on stuff I set up so we'll be fine.

August track days = nice sticky leathers: D

I agree with Dave tho, get the first one in early in the year & hook the newbies for the rest of the year. End of april very beginning of may & then maybe 1 a month after that.

"Track days run rain or shine."

I thought a BRAG/Buell track day once was canceled due to rain.

I'll just watch and wait until a location and date are set, won't be able to commit to anything until after January anyway.

Dave, not all track days run rain or shine. Learning curves has canceled a few due to it. I wouldnt mind doing a track day in the rain..not a thunderstorm, just some nice rain.
