I'm about as mechanical as cotton so I don't want to take on anything that involves more than an allen wrench or two. What's involved in changing the speedo/odo on a Buell Blast?

Why do you want to do it? If the speedo / odo is not reading, its just a blown sensor, welcome to the (very large club).

Thats a REALLY easy fix if thats whats wrong... The speedo / odo is fine, just replace the sensor (with the newer mo-better part)

Well the odo is flickering on and off - I figured that was more than a sensor, but if not, great. Where do I get these sensors?

Is it turning on and off, or just not always changing milage?

Even if it is flickering, I would be tracing wires supplying power to it before replacing it... I think dead speedos are pretty rare.

Try just disconnecting the speedo sensor and see if that makes it better as well. Somebody here (forget who...) had all sort of weirdness from a shorted out sensor.

These sensors blow all the time, and it would be really easy to disconnect it for a test. Just pop the Deutsch connector apart and see if the flickering goes away (but of course your speedo will always measure 0 mph and your odo will not update).
