I haven't done crash pictures and measurements for years, but I used to do that part-time for a local law office. I'm sure there are people here who will disagree, but based on my (outdated) experience, that SUV was probably traveling closer to 25-30 when it hit that tree. 50MPH is much more dramatic and with a big heavy SUV, that tree would have been toast. On another note, it's got a flat rear tire which probably blew when they hopped the curb. The rear end could also have been momentarily airborn and barely touched the ground until the final location, blowing the tire when it came into contact with the sidewalk.

Also, if they hit the tree at an angle at that speed, the vehicle would have rotated with that tree as a pivot making it look like it was a straight-on crash.

They were clearly 425ers...

Leave us 206ers alone... : )

So the toolbox was already on the sidewalk and then hit the tree?
Then the marks you were looking for on the curb would be further down the street.
Can I have the street address?
I want to googlemap it. : )

I love it when idiots ruin their expensive crap in public!
