Where to start? well I used to use pandora til they twigged that my IP was outside the US, & Hulu won't even let me in.

Do any of you guys know of other, similar, sites that are less, how can we put it, discriminating?

There's lots of stuff out in webworld that I can't watch or listen to due to stupid copyright laws.

Alternatively any ideas how to circumvent the IP thing?

Grumpy, there are plenty of ways to mask your ip. I can't search for it now because of its nature (I'm at work), but google XBrowser or torpark (Xbrowsers former name). Its a Firefox client with the Tor encryption/anonymizing protocols built right in, no fiddling around with stuff.

Can't believe how ridiculous the content industries are, blocking people from foreign countries like that. Same crap with "DVD regions" to where a UK dvd won't work here.

BOOstzx3, I tried that xB browser/torpark & it wouldn't install unless I gave my credit card details, 35 bucks a month is a bit stiff for me!!

Mr. Grumpy, I'm so confused. Xbrowser/torpark were open source. I never had to pay. I know that Xbrowsers makers offer a PREMIUM anonymoizing service, but for your purposes you don't need it. It should be free, I have it currently, downloaded maybe 2 weeks ago it was free. Tonight when I get home from work I will post/pm about what to do to get this working.

Google "anonymous proxy" and find a free one that is in the US.

Hoot, that would be good to, but they die out quickly and are usually slow. I'm trying to get him on Torpark because Tor is (in my experience) faster and reliable, plus with the standalone Tor'd browser he wouldn't have to fiddle with anything.

What if I setup a proxy server on one of my rigs for him? I got plenty of bandwidth. I never tried setting one up before.

My "server" is Vista 64bit Ultimate, I am going to eventually convert my old P4 Dell into a server because my main computer is doing too much as it is, and then attempting to play Bioshock and Portal on max settings just makes everything else slow down.

My connection is a Verizon Fios with 20 megabit upload. Yes, its sweet, and I filled my 6TB of hard drive space in only a few weeks.

I'm doing some research now on the whole proxy setup thing, it doesn't look too bad.

Grumps, don't worry about it, we will figure it out for you, if this gets going I will mail you instructions on how many twists the rubber band needs. : )

Grumpster, if you can't get an anonymous proxy to function, look into getting a sling box.

I imagine there are several folks here that would host your sling box (me included)

Other than that I say bittorrent the shows you want. I am not one for stealing, but if there is no other way.

I've been told hot spot shield is good for getting around Country Specific Blocks (ie you need to be from US). I've never tried it, but have head others say it works.

Hotspot shield, does the job, cheers Doon.
I'll just have to live with the advertising.

Now if I can just figure a way to watch MLB games free, we'll be sorted.

+1 on hotspot shield, that's what seems to be the most recommended.

Yup, top job chaps, I can get Pandora & Hulu now.

Anyone got any ideas for Baseball games? FiveTV, used to show a game live on Sunday & Weds night, usually live, usually ESPN, however this season they're not showing any due to.... you guessed it, "the financial crisis". WTF?
Only solution I've found so far is to subscribe to one of the European satellite broadcasters & then pay another subscription on top to get ESPN America.
Grips me a bit that I've been watching free to air for years & years & now it'll cost me over 50 bucks a month per year, for a 6 month season!
Yeah I know I'll get all the other stuff like baseball tonight & TWIB etc, plus all the other stuff like NBA, & NHL, not to mention armoured rugby. But I rarely, if ever watch that stuff.
