It looks like F1 is changing their rules, as explained in this video:
At least they're trying to stay exciting. The little "turbo boost" feature should increase the passing, and used judiciously can be a real game changer.
If safety is the primary concern in motorcycle racing, I propose the following formula for the premier class of the world championship:
50cc 4-strokes traction control ABS 8 horsepower limit Speed governors set at 35 mph 200 meter run-off composed of McDonalds playground balls in all turns
We would probably have very close racing, and injuries would be kept to a minimum. I would feel very warm and fuzzy knowing that the riders were in very little danger.

And I think the elimination of those electronics are a good rule. Now racers are very capable of trashing the clutch a the start. They will have to work around poor suspension setup. But I think traction control will stay.... huge safety measure.

Another great video of the same battle. Shorter but more close-ups/on-board shots. These guys are all but swapping paint. Sure.... anyone could do this.

That's great racing, too bad it's only a couple of times each season.
Racing like that used to be normal, now it's the exception. It wasn't unusual for three or four bikes to fight in the front pack.
If you like that clip, get the 1990 or 1991 season in review and you'll find that nearly every race had that kind of action at the front, not just a handful of races in the entire season.
