I've seen much worse. I like the execution with the stock forks. I think the execution went awry with the tank. It humps too high. Had it been lower, I don't think it would have looked as dramatic as it does. It could stand to have the front raked out a little further to accommodate the frame arch. |

At least it has a functional F&R suspension, and the footpegs are far enough back that you don't look like Superman coming in for a landing. I'm with FB on that gas tank. OCC seems to do that to every custom bike they build- mounting a "flying" gas tank a foot or two above the engine. |

Pity, wonder how much it would cost to take it back to stock? |

That is a sweet looking little scooter (high tank and all)!!! I'd buy/ buld one, but it would definately have to have some cushion on the seat! |

I'd keep the big 'ole honking headlight and ditch the bars as well!!! Anyone notice the derby cover fitted to the top of the oil tank?? |

Hmmmmm.... $4000 for the kit... $3000-$4000 for a donor... $1000 for the extras... pretty sweet deal for under $10,000... If only I hadn't sold the wife's 97 S1......... Keep it clean and simple, painted all in Black!! I bet I could find the Buell front end and drop a regular (although worked) sporty motor in it!! |

That thing is ugly. Needs a bit more rake and lose the bark busters....and way too much $$ for what it is. |

i like the basic execution. i would lower the tank down over the frame and either shorten the forks, or give a slight more rake.Gs makes the kit and for what stock buells are selling for, why not build one. my 78 suzuki is not worth a grand stock, but custom, i dunno |

I hate that a tuber had to die for this thing to be born, but I kinda dig it. The front end isn't raked into oblivion and the ergonomics look like they'd be livable. Throw some sort of chain guard over the countershaft sprocket, pad the seat, stick a baffle in the header, and I might even ride it somewhere. |

Yea, the seat is reminiscent of the early model JD tractors. |

If there was some benefit to turning a sportbike into a chopper other than looks and achieving a certain ergonomic stance, they might be OK. As is, that's another waste of a good bike/components IMO. |

Sometimes I think I have a small/closed mind, then I read these threads......... Neat bike, but like he said in the ad, next one is from an 07 donor, and I think that will look much better. BTW, yall really need to quit yer bitchen, where do you think all those mint used parts yall buy up on ebay come from??? |

Zactly! I am considering building a chopper. (I know, get out your stones!) One of the things I am considering is whether I want to use a donor bike or simply search for the parts I need. To get parts that are in the condition I want on a bike, I would have to scrap a tuber in really good condition. That to me just seem sacreligious. I would rather buy just the parts off of a bike that has already been scrapped for some reason (wrecked, bad shape, cracked frame, etc.). I don't think there is anything mechanically wrong with this particular example. It's just that the final execution is a little dodgy. The neck angle seems to be built for a raked out front rather than the stock length forks. The oil tank is also a little odd. I would have probably tried to go with some other final drive system set up, but I've seen worse. The total package isn't bad. It just could have been done better with different parts. I hope to have a better presentation. |

Zactly! I am considering building a chopper. (I know, get out your stones!) As the owner of a 2000 S3 (which I've been trying to sell since acquiring my Uly in December), it's easy to see how a lot of these bikes get built. There doesn't seem to be much of a market for used tubers. FB, can I make you a deal? http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/21/ 266304.html?1174503899 |

My parts come from the dealer. Yes, they still have parts for an 11 year old Buell, and there is still some decent aftermarket support. |

Hugh, Yours is EXACTLY the kind I would feel guilty in gutting. I think I am going to use the engine from a tuber and the forks and wheels from an XB. That way I can build with a clear conscience! |

Yeah, obviously. My point is that there's rarely anything used that can truly be called "mint", and on an online auction there is usually little in the way of any real steal. Buell parts are cheap. I'd rather avoid the hassle and buy new. Personally, I can see parting out a totalled bike, but to do so for the objective to make a little more money just plain sucks. |
