Above is a link to a set of 05 1200 rocker boxes. I am wondering if converting to these would be similar to converting to a set of xb boxes. The reason I ask is that I own these currently and would rather not sell them if I can use them.

Yes and no. They do eliminate a gasket, but as they sit they do not change the crankcase breathing. You can, however, drill a hole in the appropriate area of each top and add the XB grommet and PCV valve to do the same thing. They are much cheaper used though, as last I looked the PCV valves alone were like $30/ea. the last two pair I bought used were $10 shipped.

Here is a list of the parts required to do the conversion. The prices are what I paid in 2011. I bought a replacement PCV valve recently and it cost $30 as Phelan mentions.

You don't need the FRT and RR rocker covers as you have the Sportster parts. But you need to drill holes for the PCVs.

Thanks that works for me. Where should I drill the holes? There are 2 breather valve looking things that have like this cloth filter inside should I get rid of it or keep it. I know the swap is to stop puking of oil but my question is besides slight design difference whats the fact as to why it works. Couldn't I just drill a pcv into the stock rb.

Probably one of my favorite sites. I ran into a snare. I heard some say to remove the spacers and some say drill out the butterfly holes. I decided to sell these rocker boxes and covers and buy the xb ones.

Eeh for the price they are asking I don't mind piecing it together. just picked up a new front cover today and starting making a catch can as well so I have roughly 1 tenth of the supplies.

It was a rear shock res for a 94 suzuki 750 that was in a fire so there was no re building. I wish I had pics of before basically instead of rusty it was all crusty so I scrubbed it for ever then painted it. The filter is secured with RTV but I am confident it will hold and it is replaceable as necessary. Going to put a drain plug in the bottom and I also need to take a trip to the plumbing store and find a hose bib fitting that will thread into the intake.

I Think I need to put the filter on a 90 as well. we shall see.
