So some of you may be familiar with my adventures with my "new" '00 X1...get it, ride it 3/4 mile, and it dies. No idea why.

Did all my troubleshooting ass-backwards (started with injectors and worked back to fuel pump)

Well, drained the tank a few nights ago and had some free time today. Went ahead an pulled the pump. My, oh my, what a mess inside that tank.

I have no idea how long this bike sat, but the inside of the tank was junky as hell, fuel pump trashed and flopping around (clamp that holds it to the regulator is nowhere to be found?)

Anyhow, now I've gotta find an entire pump/regulator assy. Have a possible line on one via someone on here, but in the event that falls through, I have a question: I've read that the pump from a specific Mustang model will work (can't remember off the top of my head, but it's easy enough to find on here..) Does that pump come with regulator as well when purchased from AutoZone/O'riley's/etc, or is it just the pump, and I'll need to come up with a regulator on my own?

Below I've linked to quite a few pics showing everything...beware, it's mighty graphic!!

You can get the pump here:

But that's just the pump, not the regulator.

Thanks for the link...I have previously been in contact with another forum member that (I believe) is converting (or has converted?) to a carb setup. Have shot him a note, and it looks like I'll be able to obtain everything I need to get back on the road from him..

WOOT! Super excited. After this, I just need fresh oil all over, and **hopefully** it'll run alright...

I do have another question, though...may as well not start a new thread..

If I were to put an aftermarket intake and/or exhaust on the X1, would a race ECM be necessary, or could the appropriate tuning be done via the factory ECM? Intake is on my list, and I need to know if I'll need a race ECM to get it to run correctly, or if the stock will function well enough..

Thanks!!

Race maps can be loaded on the stock ECM.

Awesome. I guess first things first, but good to know I can go that way when it's time.

Thanks!
