Here's a chart to start you off:

Maybe I should point out I still run the 10R12A or whatevers from HD.

Nothing personal but that chart looks a bit old. It says to use the wrong plugs in some models. (Wrong heat range)

The basic HD 10R12A's are good and cheap. How much money can you save buying two plugs?

Champion RA6HC

NGK DCPR9E (Also DPR9EA but it just has the threads on the top)

And of course HD 10R12A

I wanted to try Bosch Platinum but have not found a cross reference. I am trying the NGK's now.

I bought the plugs and wires from american sportbike, and noticed immediate improvement. Everyone here seems to trust Al, who owns it, and so far I haven't had fault with any of their product on my buell.

I got my 10R12's from the local Harley/Buell dealer for about two and a half bucks apiece....just how much do you want to save?

Maybe one could find some used? Reconditioned?

I used to buy "re-cap" tires, I don't know if they're even available anymore.

Options are just what the word says. You can always use the stock or standard parts or pieces. Sometimes (the options)they work better and sometimes it is a bust. Then there are those that try different things and it works better. I like options so if the factory part is not available I can still get it running.
