always had it since i bought it but now that i installed the forcewinder, it seems worse. maybe it is a coincidence. seems to be coming from the bolt that holds the mount between the cylinders and holds the fuel filter. can oil come out of there? maybe from the head? it is leaking pretty good.

+1 on Rocker box. Where are your breather lines routed? Or how did you route them after installing the force winder? Old gasket and self inflicted rocker pressure easy to start a leak! If it is the rocker box it can be fixed in 30 minutes. Its a tuber right of passage, welcome to the leaky rocker box club |

The Xb rocker box upgrade can be done for $117 Just get all the parts you need from the dealer or get a polished kit from Al @ American Sport Bike |

i used the forcewinder breather set up. go back to the old one with a catch can? i don't need a polished kit so the $117 seems much better. thanks for the help. nate |

It may just be a old gasket, But i don't like the catch can on my bike. My motor didn't make too much spoog so i am going back to my hose vented out to the ground out back. here are part numbers for the upgraded xb rocker box 1.rocker cover front 17605-00yb 2.Rocker cover rear 17642-02a 3.pcv grommets for covers 17606-00ya get 2 4.turret valve, pcv 17607-00y get 2 5.rocker cover gasket 17353-89C get 2, I am not sure you need this after the conversion I think the lower gasket is now used not the top cover gasket???? If you can wait for parts i recommend this site http://www.lshd1.com/servlet/StoreFront It will save some bucks!! And thank brinnutz for this site as he told me about it. OH YEAH the front rocker cover doesn't always fit between the front of the motor and mount unless you are using the nrhs mount. YOU will have to gently file a little off at a time until it slips on. |

that rocker cover gasket seems awful cheap. $6? this seems more like the correct gasket kit http://www.lshd1.com/servlet/Detail?no=523874 it is $48 |

The $6 gasket is just the one between the lower and upper rockerbox I believe. The full kit (minus middle to upper gasket and umbrella valves) is what you need. Might as well do both cylinders at once, only a matter of time till the front one goes too. |

i routed the breather hoses down to a catch can near the shock and the leak is back to what it was before, just a tiny weeping after a ride. that forcewinder breather system blows (ha ha!) gonna be nice tomorrow, can't wait to ride! nate |

That's good news enjoy the ride!! Get a new fuel filter and some buell pro spark wires. your filter is the factory one. |

if what you have is a rocker box leak (it appears to be) then it's more than likely leaking between the lower rocker box and the head, in which case you will need the complete gasket kit. Keep an eye out on eBay for XB rocker boxes. I got a set, including the turret pcv valves, for my S3 project for $76 shipped. Theyre used and arrived dirty, but that's a pretty good savings over new parts even from a discount online dealer. Also, when ordering a gasket kit for XB rocker covers be sure to explain your application. There may be a cheaper gasket kit available without the middle gasket. |
