How old is the battery? Just take it to Autozone or something to verify it is in fact bad before going out and buying a new one.

I just yanked the old battery out and threw in a brand new one. Started right up... Unfricking real, a damn battery of all things!

Congrats, and Hoo Rah!!!! Glad it's fixed and it was simple. Now quick, go ride, so you remember why you got it in the first place. Weather permitting. Dave

Took it for a little bit of a ride yesterday. I was so pissed at that bike last week...

It seems I have to eat a bit of crow after my initial rant. Personally, I've never seen a battery do that before...cause symptoms the way it did.

Again, thanks for the morale support more than anything!

You are welcome. Glad it worked out. Since the bike is new to you, start it and let it run for a bit, then check voltage across the batt terminals at 2kRPM. Should be in the 14+v range. Then you'll know the charging system is working well. And contact Al at American Sport Bike for a volt meter. It's easy to wire in, and allows easy monitoring of the charging system. As you know, electrical health is critical to a fuel-injected engine .......

Ah yes the battery on these bikes will make them go wacky like they are possessed. Try when your ECM o2 input pins short out that took me weeks to figure out, All because of the o2 sensor working its way out of the exhaust and loosing ground.

check the charging system is ok, and you don't have any shorts draining it.
