I dunno if there is a kit for the bike, don't believe so .. but even if there was .... Do you really want to sacrifice the handling for looks ? (just posing a question, something you have to consider if you did that) The bike will not handle the same with the wider rear, especially that wide.

I put a 180 on my rear wheel and i think it looks better. would never consider a 250 on a sport bike.

There is not enough offset on the output pulley to clear a tire that wide without fouling the belt (chain, shaft ect...). Lots of fabrication necessary, including a new swing arm.

This is a 1/10th scale (I think) die cast of a real S1 Lightning that was put together with a 250 mm Avon back tire.

Avon S1

Avon S1 2

I know I have some pics somewhere of the actual bike but don't have time to find them right now. In fact I remember seeing a pic of Willie G. giving it some award for Best Buell (now that says it all right there, don't it?) at Daytona one year.

Don't get me wrong, variety is the spice of life, but for me putting a 250 on a Buell is just a waste of a beautifully handling motorcycle.

I have seen this on a 2000 X-1 and it was sold on E-bay a year back. The guy replaced the rear swing arm assembly with a rigid mount and extended the drive. I also think he had converted it to a chain drive. It appeared to be setup for drag racing even though the engine was stock. I saw him riding it a week before it went on E-bay.

Cyclonemduece - Sent you a PM. But, I got some "stuff" for a 250 conversion. Would still require you taking care of all swingarm fab parts. But I got a offset sproket, Buell wheel converted to 18" X 8.5" and powdercoated black already, and a 250 tire. Was gonna do a ProStreet Sporty using the buell wheels but ditched the project due to . . . ummm . . no more $$$. So, holla if interested.
