I've done this before so I'm doing it again ; )

What are folks finding for prices on various 'tuber parts? I'll try to keep a running list as long as I have access.

Okay, got a little break from drop-kicking the broken workstation here (should'a wore the steel toed boots today, dang computer problems).

1. Engines seem to go for $2000-$3000 if in decent running condition without the intake or carb. But they seem to take awhile to sell, and take awhile to show up on the market in decent shape as well.

2. Carbs seem to go for $25-$100 for the stock stuff.

3. Got no idea what intakes sell for.

4. air filter assemblies:
4.a. stock breakboxes seem to go for the cost of shipping.
4.b. Buell/Harley c/f race filter assemblies seem to range from $50-150 depending on condition.

5. stock headers? I don't know, maybe $50+? That is if you can sell a stock one.

6. Mufflers:
6.a. stock mufflers you almost have to pay to get rid of them.
6.b. aftermarket ones seem to depend on condition, for example I've got a thrashed old-style Wileyco that's in throw-away price range probably, and a new, unused, new style Wileyco that would maybe go for $100-$200 or so without the hat and keychain and decals.

7. updated Y-Mount muffler hangers are maybe $10-$50 or so used.

8. Stock swingarms, aluminum style, maybe $75-150?
8.a. swingarm mounting blocks I've never seen sold alone, so who knows?

9. Front forks?
9.a. tubes alone?
9.b. triple trees alone per set?
9.c. complete tubes and trees?
Got no idea.

10. Headlight assembly?

11. billet style aluminum dashplate:
11.a. alone without gauges, $25-75?????
11.b. with speedo and tach, ?????

12. bodywork:
12.a. flyscreen?????
12.b. gas tank in decent condition with Lego logo?????
12.c. gas tank with bubbled older style decals and maybe some scribbles but no gouges?????
12.d. seat/main body section without tail light?????
12.e. seat/main body section with tail light assembly?????
12.f. front fender?????
12.g. rear hugger inner fender?????

13. stock seat?

14.front brake caliper and reservor and hand brake lever?????

15. real brake caliper and reservoir and foot brake pedal and linkage?????

16. front wheel:
16.a. bare, no tire, no rotor????? (gray)
16.b. complete as it came off the bike, decent rotor, legal tire tread?????

17. rear wheel:
17.a. bare, no tire, no rotor, no pulley????? (gray)
17.b. complete as it came off the bike, decent rotor, pulley, legal tire tread?????
17.c. rear pulley all by itself?????

18. handlebars?????

19. misc:
19.a. stock mirrors?
19.b. stock turn signals?
19.c. X1 style bendy shaft turn signals? (all four corners for a. b. c.)

20. frame?????

21. shifter linkage:
21.a. stock original shifter assembly?????
21.b. newer style shifter assembly?????

22. used Ventura rack system: short rack, tall rack, one bag, no grab rail?????

What am I missing?
Add your own numbers/prices along with anything I'm missing, along with how long it takes to find or sell this stuff.

The engine and/or frame may or may not come with a title for arguments sake, but will come with a bill of sale, again for arguments theoretical discussion's sake.

I'm just curious how the current complete bike prices are comparing with the parts prices since some 'tubers are sell for uncomfortably below $3,000 these days. Makes a guy tempted to throw some Uly-ish tires on an M2 and hit the Plymouth flat track races with it.

Anyway, thanks for any additional input.

Been watching for body parts for my S3
Fairings are mostly running $140 - $170.
Tailpieces $75 - $100?
It seems like tanks are around a $100, but I haven't been looking close enough to tell what has the cap hardware and what doesn't. FI tanks seem to be harder to find.
Not many front fenders out there. I think the chopper guys are keeping them with the forks.

Thanks, that's the type of info I'm looking for.

Seth, sorry, not selling nothing yet unless you want to buy a whole bike. ; )
I think the X1 Ventura system mount is different than the one for the M2.

Many of the prices on these parts have varied a lot this summer. We have parted a few bikes and have done well on some parts and much less than others on the same parts.

I did know that he luggage rack was different, but am hoping to do a custom mounting config., so I just need the the racks and bag, not so much the main supports.

I'll keep that in mind. I like having the rack on there, being the occasional packrat that I am, but if I decide to clean off the bike a bit I'll post the parts up on the site here.

Around here several of the dealerships start having excess inventory year end clearances where they unload a bunch of their unsold items. In the past I've seen some Ventura bags and hardware, I'll keep an eye open and will post if I see any in the next few months.

Mike,
Paid $300 for a pair of used WP Roma's in need of seals (S2 forks) for my S1 track bike. I'd expect a similar sum for the stock S1 pieces.

Spent $650Cdn for a set of S2T bags and mounting hardware for the S2.

Paid $200 for a brand-new-in-the-box 2.5" D&D reverse cone megaphone chrome muffler for the S3.

Sourced a nice used Buell Pro pipe for the S2 from (Saint?)Firemanjim, and I'm not even going to tell you how much he GAVE it to me for cause I don't want to adversley effect the market. : )

I've sourced several smaller bits and pieces from BighairyRalph (shock mounts, speedo drives, regulators, coils etc) for very reasonable ($10-$30) sums

Buellidan gave me a screaming deal on a used Works Perf shock a few years back. $300 iirc.

I've seen stock coils on e-bay for a dollar.

I've been thinking to maybe use the S3's stock muffler on my Saturn. Nice stainless piece, shame to hide it under a car like that. But... : )

Jim,
Sportster piece is just as spendy here in Canada, the after market pieces I've seen are chromed. Been keeping one eye open at flea markets and the like, but if you've got one hanging around I'd be happy to help you create storage space. : D

Mike J

I sold a (S3) fi tank with paint in pretty good condition last spring for $125ish.
M2 seat and tail went for somewhere between $110 and $150, I don't recall but they were about nine out of 10 condition wise.

Sold a X1 front fender for $40, color injected not the painted one.

I usually stop bidding on stock headers at $60-65, they seem to go about $80ish for the non fi models and up to $110-120 for the injected bikes.

Paid $25 for stock M2 bars AND stock air box (in pristine condition), that was from a bad webber so I'd imagine bars would sell for the same alone.

Bought a stock airbox on ebay for $5 plus shipping. It is doubtful you could expect anymore than that same amount for stock turn signals or mirrors, I will find out in a few weeks when I get some parts posted.

Sold a chopped cam cover for $125ish.

A lot of my take off aluminum parts have gone to the recycler since I didn't think I could make enough money to bother listing them...

Hope this helps.

-Mike
