2 things - I just bought a Vanson Mesh Jacket for the hot summers in Houston - does anyone have any comments good or bad about the jacket; the second thing - there are absolutely no, and I mean no pockets anywhere on the jacket (which I did not realize until I got it home) - if you own this jacket, where do you put the stuff that goes into pockets, like a garage door opener, etc. Thanks.

VentMax III?

I have one and it really is excellent for hot weather use. The downsides as I see them:
#1: no pockets (as you already discovered)
#2: no means to zip the jacket to any other Vanson products.
#3: the plastic zipper seems flimsy to me.
#4: the back protector is skimpy on the coverage.
#5: Black. Why does it have to be black, particularly on a garment meant for summer use?

The upside is I don't see how you could get more airflow. In fact, one interesting "benefit" is the cooling effect caused by bugs exploding when they hit the mesh. I rode through a cloud of grasshoppers last summer and it was most refreshing.

Protection wise I have no intention of testing it. That said, when it is hot enough outside to melt the tarmac the VentMaxIII is the only logical choice.

It is the Ventmax III and I noticed the 5 downsides that Cheesebeast listed. I was bummed about the black and the lack of visibility, but it does have the stripes down each arm that really do glow in the dark. It is always nice to get reviews from people that own the same item that I own.
Oh yeah - if I ever rode through a cloud of grasshoppers I would freak out, crash and die (maybe not from the crash, but from grasshoppers crawling on me). I hate grasshoppers!

Cheesebeast & Yttikcat - thank you. I am laughing out loud. After those reviews I cannot imagine a down-side to that jacket. I can see the television ad now... Charlton Heston as Moses... and through the plague of locusts rides a lone Buell rider for he fears no insect in his Vanson... Thank you.
