Piggos,
They don't list it in the Buell bible I have. Do you know the name of the color?
Isn't it like Millennium silver or sumthin?

Can someone tell me how to tell the difference between the S2 fairing and mounting bracket and the S3 fairing and bracket? There are some parts on e-bay and I'm not sure whether they are S2 or S3 parts.
Thanks
John

Item one looks to me like an S2 version.
Item two, I don't know.
Item three looks very interesting and perhaps you should get Court or Ferris or one of the NorthWest people to look at it. If it gets too interesting I may bid on it. That 1998 text looks very curious, but I wasn't aware of Buells much in 1998 so don't know what was happening out west with them at the time. Could be something very significant, or just someone's summer vacation text, don't know. ;)

The silver bodywork is from Heidi Lauby's Buell S-3.

So I take it that both fairings are S3 parts and the bracket is an S2 part. Right? I did ask the seller of the bracket-he didn't know.

S2's have the post and hole mounting. S3's have the bolt thru a tube mounting. At least that's my backyard description of them. S3's have a tube welded sideways on the headtube. That bracket looks like it plugs into an S2 setup. Don't know for sure how the earlier Buells mounted their fairings.

I would like to know the paint color for the Blast frame. Would a dealer be able to get touch-up paint? I have to touch up a couple of scratches.

James,
A good dealer should have a little display setup with about 100 different bottles of touchup paint on their counter. They should also be able to tell you which one is what you need.

What do you guys think about this? Saw a spot about it on Speed Channel during the "trucks" show.

I've found it cheaper though.

Does anyone make a "real" front fender for the XB9R/S series? The one from the factory could use an additional 10" added onto the rear portion!
Thank you,

Steve,
Sometimes "function over form" is a bad thing. It is a sport bike after all. Besides, the fender adds to the unsprung weight. :p

Yes, and Harley handles S-100 products.
Might have to make my own as that thing is ridiculously stubby.

I saw the same thing on television. Haven't a clue about it, but it sure sounded slick to me.

I recently purchased a Banke license relocator for my '98 Cyclone. See the pics AZ_M2 sent in July 2002. Nice parts, but no directions. I pulled the tailsection apart and discovered that the stock license plate/taillight holder is glued to the underside of the tailsection. I'm looking for tips on how to remove the stock piece without destroying everything. Right now it's looking like my options are chisels and hacksaw blades, but maybe someone has a better idea?

Also, AZ_M2 indicated that his stock piece was bolted in on his 2001. ASB says they didn't think Buell glued them in except for on some early S2's. Can someone confirm that the license/taillight holder on '98 Cyclones is glued to the tailsection and I don't have something weird going on with mine?

Thanks! EVOMX

1996 S1. I'm looking for that abbreviated inner fender that I see on alot of bikes. The guy who had the bike before me removed all the plastic and put on the eliminator for the plate. I would like to put an inner fender back on to keep water and crap out of the underside of the bike. I've seen the one from Lockhart but it's CF and I would like a cheaper plastic alternative.

Thanks
Ken

Ken,

Could you use the inner fender from a Cyclone? See them all the time on ebay.

both my original 2000 and my "new" 97 M2 Tailsections were held together with hell-for-strong glue of some kind . . .no bolts in evidence

New project taking shape in R_T_G

S2 solo seat project

I want to be able to at least carry a tool bag and a clean change of clothes for overnight trips, so I'm building a "trunk" where the passenger seat used to be. I don't have passenger pegs on the bike, so the loss of the second seat is not an issue.

I built a "buck" out of styrofoam, then made a fiberglass shell which I have bonded to the tailpiece. I'm now perfecting the shape with bondo and more 'glass. Last night I cut the old seat pan down and bonded on a seat back made of aluminum, that's the more-or-less vertical piece in the picture. Tonight I'll put another piece of aluminum in the tail section, facing the new seat back. I'm planning to hold the seat in place with Velcro between the seat back and tail piece, plus the stock locating peg on the front of the pan.

Are there any upholsterers out there?

Bomber,

Thanks for confirming! Just weird that everyone I talked to thought it should be bolted in somehow. I decided to not install it. One, I didn't want to deal with that glue, but in addition, I have a Ventura luggage system on the bike and the relocator put the turn signals really close to the mounts.

R-T, Call rocky at Texan HD in the woodlands, He knows an upholsterer up by Huntsville that does custom work. Man your garage looks like mine did when I was sanding the X1 parts, I finally built a booth out of plastic sheeting to contain my misery..:)

JV yes it will fit but you may need to up date your seat or you might have a small gap between the seat and the tank.I go back and forth between tanks but I use the seat pictured in my profile and that works perfect.

Can anyone tell me what if the material used as the 97 M2 Seat Base is heat-formable? I need to decrease the angle formed by the nose of the seat and the base run . . . I'm hoping I can warm it up some, bend it to where it's needed, and have it sit still . . ..

thanks

Bomber,

It sure looks and feels like a thermoplastic (reheatable/reformable) to me. Keep in mind that the vinyl covering will tend to try to pull the nose up/back.
