I will be there WV Buell rally. Nukeblue can you get off on thur. and check out SR-80 then to the WV rally???? Any one else want to go?? |

Dennis_c, I plan on going to the WV Rally. You can try out my Baldwin seat then. If you do SR-80 and then come back up for the Rally, you will have a sore butt.  |

It looks like it's time to replace the tires before my BRP trip in 2 weeks. I was hoping to make the trip with these tires before replacing them, but doesn't look good.
I'm running the Pilot Road 2CT and just put about 6,500 miles on them, with a guesstimated 40% of that riding 2-up. So the mileage is excellent and with only 2mm left of chicken-strip they obviously stick great in the corners.
The last time I removed the wheels myself (one at a time given my lack of stands). I then took them to Iron Pony where I bought the tires and had them mounted. This was a little bit time consuming for me, although I'm sure tire removal and re-install will go a little faster the second time around.
My real question to everyone is this -- what's the cheapest/quickest way for me to get another set put on?
I see my options as:
1 - Ride over to Iron Pony and let them do everything. Quick and easy, but probably the most expensive option. And now I have someone else messing with my bike.
2 - Take the wheels off myself, take them to Iron Pony, buy the tires and have them mount them. A bit time consuming since I can only do one at a time. Last time my bike was down for 4 days total doing this.
3 - Buy tires online, remove my wheels, take them to Iron Pony and have them mounted (not sure they'll even do this with tires not purchased there).
4 - Buy tires online, ride over to a local Bueller with the right mounting tools (anyone?) and mount them.
My goal is to try to keep my costs down (leaving my trip money intact) but not take too much downtime.
Any suggestions? |

You could borrow my pitbull stands if you want to. Makes it a quick and easy process.
I really like the 2ct's also. I have a set mounted on my road wheels. Great wear and handling.
I believe that the Pony requires that you purchase tires there. IF I recall the Ducati club in c-bus has a nomar tire changer, and offer to help anyone who needs it. |

Shawn, sweet! Two questions - do you have stands at your place and what about balancing? I'm guessing I should try out the Dyna-Beads instead of old-fashioned weights and using a balance machine.
(Thanks for the loaner offer on the stands Mark. I may take you up on that too if Shawn doesn't have stands...) |

I'm with Nukblue. I buy most of my tires at sportbiketrackgear.com and use the nomar changer which is awesome (IMHO).
I'd do some research on the dyna-beads though. I have heard mixed reports. NB probably has the nomar balancer and I would suggest going that route with weights. |

Buy tires from Todd @ MotoSeries. Ride up and he'll do them for free if you buy tires from him. Pirelli Rosso or Rosso 2. Or buy them and come to a track day and have them installed there. BTW I just got the same milage (6500-ish) from my Rosso's that are on my 1125R. I have 10,061 on my Strada front that is on my Uly. I'm just now considering changing it in prep for the 6k trip coming up in July. That is awesome wear!!!!! |

We use a No-Mar balancer to do all of the race tires we sell. Make sure you keep the bearings clean and the surfaces of the adapter rod and bearing races clean and you won't have any problems. Once you find the light spot, mark it and pull the wheel/tire assy 1/4 turn toward you to make sure it returns to the light spot on top. Then balance accordingly. I use tape weights and toss a piece of Gorilla brand duct tape over the weight to ensure it stays in place. I use this method to balance assys that routinely see 160+ mph. |

BRP Ride in Two Weeks
I wanted to extend a final invitation to the Blue Ridge Parkway ride.
For those that may have their weekend open up at the last minute, let me know if you want to come along. There's four of us at this point (2 Buellers and 2 VFR buddies) and we're meeting this Sunday evening to go over the route and on-the-fly decisions ("hey, this is fun and we've still got some daylight left, so let's keep going until...!").
Dates are Friday, June 24 - Monday June 27. We're leaving early Friday afternoon (1-2pm) and will be back in Columbus on Monday afternoon/evening. Anything in between is up for discussion, although the plan right now is basically:
- Friday - Make our way to Front Royal, VA at the top of the Skyline Drive and hit a cheap hotel Friday night.
- Saturday - Ride the Skyline Drive and start down the BRP. Camp along the BRP.
- Sunday - Continue down the BRP and camp at the Willville Bike Camp.
- Monday - Just a little more BRP and then head home.
No plans to take any big slabs on the way there, but we will on the way back.

Was over that Iron Pony today and was looking around at the close out stuff, I was there to buy a chain brush for the KLR. I was on my Buell and was chilly as my perfed leather coat doesn't stop any wind and there's no windshield on the bike at all. Well on the rack was a red Fieldsheer leather coat in my size. Yea I know they have shut down but so has Buell and it still runs fine! Anyway coat was marked down the $88.00! liner and all needless to say I wore it home. So now I have 4 Fieldsheer coats in a range from mesh to full leather. The only bummer is my touring coat from them tells me to wipe the outer shell with a damp cloth, do NOT machine wash. A mud ball like that and I gotta hand wash it? 
Well it's a nice jacket for the price and they had 2 left after I was done. I think both were large/46. At that price I don't see how you could go wrong.
I got the chain brush too but no deal on that.

I rode 60,83,555,676 to Marietta and some smaller shorter roads yesterday. Good ride despite construction and some really dirty spots . Nothing wrong with a two wheel slide. Right? |

We haven't been able to put any large group rides together yet this year (not for lack of trying though) but we do have some things coming up. For instance, there's a BRP ride this coming weekend and the West Virginia Buell Rally is in August.

Howdy Raymond. There are quite a few of us on here and plenty more who lurk... I haven't yet had a chance to meet with any of the member who post regularly but chat with them often enough that you can be assured you're going to be in good company. I met a fellow Buell guy in Strasburg Friday when I was on my way to pick up some tile I intend to recycle in a project. Great guy GuernseyRob if memory serves. I saw him at the gas station on the corner of town with his Uly. When I approached him, introduced myself and asked about a couple of mods that were obvious, he was super friendly and eager to answer my questions. Bottom line. Yes, active. Yes, great group of people. Welcome to the Buell fraternity!!

Bad news alert!!! Due to an urgent surgery, my family finances are wiped out. To convince my beautiful wife to not sell her engagement ring, I have offered to sell my 2005 XB9Sx. It is with a heavy heart that I do this... However, within the next year, I expect a case @ the Ohio Supreme Court to reimburse me for a lawyer who left the state with a large amount of my money... at which time I will be looking for a 1125CR.
