Hello I have a 2003 Buell XB9R and I'm looking into a new exhaust. I really like the way the XR1200 exhaust kicks up the side like the japanese sport bikes. I was wondering if anybody here has used XR or XL headers to give their bike this look. Would my rearsets/foot pegs be in the way, would the headers fit under my frame. fabricating an additional mounting bracket or two should not be a problem, I'm just wondering if it would actually fit.

Thanks

You probably wont find a set of off the shelf headers to clear the frame from the rear cylinder if thats what you are looking for. There is a company that makes awesome pipes for the XB's and they could probably do anything you wanted. They are on this board.

I believe he asking about the up swept muffler style.

Which on a Buell XB would be problematic because of mounting issues.

Yes, Teeps is right. I was looking at something like the Vance and Hines Black Widow

You can't use the XR1200 exhaust on a Buell because the engine is mounted differently and you would end breaking the XR system when the Buel engine moves (The XR is rubber mounted but has nowhere near the movement of the Buell system).
You would have to find a way of flexibly mounting the whole muffler and link pipes so that they move with the motor, and that would end up looking pretty ugly methinks : (

I have seen 'traditonal' style side mount long mufflers mounted on Buells in the past, but most of those employed some flexible exhaust piping between the headers and muffler and were Fugly.

You may also run into problems clearing footpegs etc as these are position differently on the XR.
