At this point in time my battery strap is broken again, but that is the least of my concerns. The dealership and I finally got together for my warrantee service appointment to replace some sweating gaskets, and when they took the jugs off they noticed a large piece of my front piston missing, and a large piece of the case missing...translate to my baby is awaiting a brand new motor! |

Well, the battery strap is suppose to be in tomorrow. Hopefully this one doesn't break.

I really could care less if they replace a bs battery strap that is going to break within 2 months, I just want my bike back! |

The battery strap on the S from the factory is just wrong. Wait till you try to put a new one on, hehe, the one on my 08 broke, the new one came in under warranty, but I wont let the boys at the dealership touch my bike, after 2 hours of trying to strech it on, I threw it in a drawer, and used a piece of 1 inch velcro. The velcro holds the battery secure, and isnt gonna snap from stress. |

Well, I received the battery strap today. My dealer got it yesterday (~90 miles away) and shipped it to me. I just have to ship my old strap back to them. They were very easy to work with and I wanted to say thanks to Waukon Harley.
Hopefully this new strap lasts for a while.

Nick, I got hit on the 08 with the velcro on the battery, it was crushed, and gone, I just used 1" velcro, self stick, and stuck the hooks to the back of the loops, and cut to length, it was nice and tight, and easy on/off, my 09 hasn't broke the strap yet. |

Well, it only took 5 minutes for the new strap to break. I literally tried to install it 3 times and then it snapped once again. Here's a picture before it completely snapped:
I ended up using a velcro strap and cutting it to length to hold everything down:
If anybody knows who designed the Buell rubber battery strap, please slug them in the stomach.

great idea with the velcro. next time I take mine off I wont try to put it on, i'll just do the velcro |

The adhesive backing on the velcro does not hold up to heat very well. |

This velcro doesn't have an adhesive backing on it.

Good deal. I ended up using both clips from the rubber battery strap itself and then velcro. It holds the battery down very snug.
