Hey Guys,

Sometime this weekend, my battery strap broke. I should be able to have it replaced under warranty, but I will find out tomorrow. Has this happened to anybody else out there? Are there replacement straps made by anybody else?

Thanks,
Nick

That's a weird one.

I'd shoot Al at American Sport Bike a note and ask. He tries hard to stock the common replacement bits and pieces.

They'll replace it under warranty no problem.

Check a boating shop if the bike shop hasn't got any on hand or won't replace it. I bet you could find one for a sea-do or wave runner that would work fine.

Strap seems fine on my 07 XB. So far...

Thanks for the input guys. I'm waiting for the HD shop to open at 9am....good times. If I have any issues, I will contact American Sport Bike and check the marine shops.

Just tie it down good until the strap comes in.

Why does that suck so bad? Not like you can't ride it...

I've been using the seat as the battery strap for 3 years now : p

I don't use the strap either, but I am not running a normal battery.

@ Froggy

Why don't you use a strap?

My battery is the size of two packs of cigarettes, the strap is way too big so now I use cardboard and zip ties.

Holy wiring disaster under your seat BATMAN!!!
I hope it does not normally look like that. Looks like Sanchez's S1 with the 15ft of breather re-route hose he found in it.

Yup, no issues at all. The strap was dried out and brittle- broke the first time I touched it. The bottom of the seat is plastic....it's not going to short out on that! : p

Did you get the strap replaced? How long did it take to arrive?

Thanks,
Nick

I need to do that battery conversion because I did the S to R tail conversion and there is just no room for the fuse box.

Where can I get that battery froggy and what is a part number

I got so frustrated with my strap I left it off after swapping a battery out several years ago.
I now have an R tail, so the issue is no longer, the R strapping is much easier.

Yeah, we're all still laughing about that one!

What? There's plenty of room!

Why did Buell make the S model so difficult to reinstall the strap? They must have over-engineered it.

They must have over-engineered it.
More like under-engineered it.
If you've taken an R and an S apart, you'd see where they really built a StreetFighter out of the R.
There is truly a large amount of parts they both share.
The battery strap being one.

If they share the same strap, why is the R so much easier?

All Buell V-twin models since 2003 including the 1125r use the same strap. As for why its harder on the S, they had to make something hard to make up for the easy to remove seat.

That's pretty crappy. The battery doesn't shake anything loose?

@Gaza

Thank You.
